Are they really happy to be stiffed?

No idea.

But if baht bus riders are unaware of a fare rise, due to no official notice being issued, and the driver is happy with the fare, who am I to defame them by calling them names?

Let's be honest, the last thing the Baht Bus drivers want is official fares, official routes etc.

    You can still use your small change. 3 x Bht 5 or a 5 + 10 = 15, 4 xBht 5 or 2 x 10 =20. Try it.

You know.the currently fare.

So you're morally bankrupt.

Has it been ratified by the Chonburi office?

Probably more like they don't have the energy or temperament to fight with the occasional CHEAP CHARLY who is cheating them.

Not paying the new fare is indeed that -- CHEATING.

A bit dramatic don't you think? Shouting unnecessarily.

Meanwhile in Khon Kaen.

Khon Kaen Shared Taxis (Songthaews) Fare Increase To 15 Baht Eases Pressure On Drivers

Shared taxi drivers in Khon Kaen are backing the new 15 baht starting fare, saying it better reflects current fuel costs and still works for passengers.

The provincial transport office has raised fares for Category 1 and Category 4 routes. For city services, including shared taxis, the first 10 kilometres now cost 15 baht. Most drivers say the change gives them some relief as fuel prices remain high.

A 67-year-old driver said passengers had already been paying more than the old 11 baht fare on their own, as diesel climbed past 50 baht per litre. He said people understand the situation. With the new rate, he thanked authorities for stepping in but added that drivers still have to work no matter the cost.

Love is over-rated. My nickname with the Motosai guys in Asoke was Si Sib Baht, because I always paid 40 baht instead of 20.

I never had any trouble flagging one down when I needed a ride, even when it was jammed up during rush hour or the pouring rain. That was worth more than the cost.
