I think Trump thought it would end more quicker, but Iran loses $450B a day with the strait closed, while the US loses almost nothing.

90-day oil futures are lower than today's price.

To say no one thought of the Strait of Hormuz prior to the action is ridiculous. Every Administration since Carter has been running Iran war games, yet we're to believe Trump got up one morning and decided to bomb Iran.
