TDAC upon arrival - nightmare

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Nothing like getting in line to have passport stamped at arrival with TDAC on phone with passport and boarding pass ready to go. The line is crazy long and as you near the front you spy why it's so slow.

Instead of being directed out of line those with no idea of TDAC are being helped by immigration officer. Only 3 windows open for my side and 2 are being held up by mainly Indians. And Immigration officer has their phone in hand doing it for them.

More than one hour inline. Before lining up for passport control the TDAC should be verified for each passenger. Not that hard.

I have arrived more than a dozen times since TDAC was introduced... never been an issue. You have made numerous threads about the TDAC, I wonder if it self induced trauma you have experienced !

I recently flew in on Turkmenistan airlines and I needed to show my TDAC before getting checked in

The issue is knowing you need it, not doing it.

When I entered last September there were a few immigration officers checking passports fot TDAC before you joined a queue. Many were turned back and were being helped to do this before being allowed to proceed further.

Hope this was just an unlucky day not how its going to be.

In the old days , before the plane touched down you were given an arrival card to fill in. They should get their act together and have the airlines notify passengers before bording so they could download it before embarking.

Why are you so jealous of me? Is it my handsomeness, my money or a combination of both.

My experience pretty much mirrors Ralfs.

I've never been held up by someone doing their TDAC at the immigration counter (at both BKK and DMK), but i have seen one or two ppl been sent away to complete it and then lining back up again at the end of the line.

Not sure why OP seems to have seen so many problems in their entries tbh.

You seem to be the only one having problems. Sad.

Thailand is going to a mess as one could speculate that the current governance loves the foreigner's money but nothing done to make the foreigner's live easier on entering or on other visa issues. For the next winter break, other nations in Asia would seem more welcoming.

I came through twice last year, once in July and once in November.

Everyone that did not have it ready was getting turned around.

In November the guy in front of me did not have it, was going to try to use an old one. I told him he would be turned around, he would not listen, and twenty minutes later he got turned around.

I did mine at the Eva lounge in Taipei. Printed and screen-shot

This particular day they were being helped. Being turned away only makes sense.

Really? In your world it was my fault the guys were having tdac done by immigration officer.

While I was in line, a few people were helped, but the vast majority were turned back.

Touch wood, they always let me follow SWMBO through Thai passport control......last year she wasn't with me....I flashed my visa extension and they still let me through.

Is that not just a scan through now?

I used to follow my kid thru with the Thais, but as you say they just scan now. So while I waited for over an hour with the foreigners, the kid was dealing with the luggage by herself. I'm curious what happens if the kid is real young, what then?

That would suck for the little ones, waiting in line for over an hour. But, yeah you're probably right.

Thais don't have to scan through, when I travel with my Thai GF & the Foreign queue is long, we just go to the Thai Desk & she tells them that I'm her husband (Nobody bats an eye at the fact we have different surnames :) )

TBH I think they're glad for the company as past couple of times at DMK there was 2 desks open & about 3 people waiting to go through (last time was 7th March & vast majority of Thais were using the Gates).

I was there in November. I had gotten my 90 day non imm o visa, reason long stay retirement in advance just for convenience. did the TDAC thing a few days before my arrival. queue at bkk was not long at all, maybe 20 minute line. Officer saw my name and passport looked on his computer , did not ask for any paperwork, stamped my USA passport and in I went.

What I did not like was when departing, they do not stamp my passport. I liked having the paper trail of my entries and departures. Comes in handy later on when I have to report my foreign travels to my work people. Having said that, departing was quick and easy and there was no line, so not getting an exit stamp is not a big deal. But it seems now that for future visits they will rely on their electronic records..which can be a bit suspect

You're right, I just checked and I did not get stamped out last August or November.

You thought I was Thai?

It's TDAC...do Thais need to complete one?
