White House Correspondent's Dinner

Featured Replies

I am hoping Trump makes a really big deal of it, get's the convoy going, takes it to the last minute, and just circles back to the White House.

How great would that be?

It will be good to see The Wall Street Journal get the award for it's story about Trump's birthday message to Epstein. As you say Trump won't likely hang around for that. Especially due to his failed lawsuit. I am sure you agree given the facts that he did likely draw the card. Of course.

It would be great, and not at all a surprise.

That the lawsuit was dropped only proves that the WSJ was knowingly and maliciously attempting to defame Trump. The truth of the claim is not an issue. The bar for defamation is much higher for public than private individuals.

For example, it was not enough to just show that George Stephanopoulos lied every time he said Trump was found liable for rape, it had to be shown that he knew it was a lie, and was warned that it was a lie, yet he continued lying.

The Atlantic has likely been lying about Kash Patel, he files a suit against them, but that will probably be thrown out as well.

The press in the US can pretty much lie about any public figure in the US and suffer no negative consequences, to the contrary, many will applaud them. The "suckers and losers" lie is a perfect example. That's still floating around.

It's no secret Trump was friends with Epstein years ago, and it is no secret Trump is a horn-dog. There is no evedence that Trump is a pedophile, or that he was having sex with underage women.

The Wall Street Journal appears to have told the truth regardless based on what is known at this time. The words on the card are pretty damn dodgy and the implication is he was very much involved in activities with Epstein albeit not necessarily involving a crime. Trumps denial he wrote it says something about that.

I don't know why you think that way about the Atlantic story. If Kash could show that there were lies I am sure he will take the opportunity to do so. In his attempt to deal with it so far he seemed reluctant to clearly address the specific issues raised - watch the press conference - he did though say he didn't have issues logging in when he's own lawsuit noted he did.

The 'suckers and losers' one was a bit odd - hard to imagine someone saying that - but one can look at John Kelly's record - not perfect with a couple of issues but very good over his career - and Trumps - and draw your conclusions. Fact is that is not the Atlantic's fault - if a General says it happened who eventually went on the record - it seems reasonable to publish.

When was Trump "...very much involved in activities with Epstein"?

Because they hate Trump, they hate Kash, and there is no real evidence to support it. I said they were likely lying, not that they wee lying, it could be true.

How is Kash going to prove that people in the administration did not say what the Atlantic claims they said?

So he had issues logging in, I've had issues logging in, and I do not drink.

Kelly was one out of 35 people at the event, and he was the only one that claimed he said it, and then, he only made the claim after he was fired. The other 34 people at the event claim they did not hear him say it,

But sure, he could have said it. Take the decorated general aside and whisper in his ear what a sucker and loser he is.

Well the words on the card - which you do not deny likely were written by Trump - imply an intimate knowledge of what he gets up to and that they have secrets. It is not something one might write on the card of an acquaintance. Beyond that not sure - if they released all the files unredacted - with only clear and reasonable exceptions - we might be in a better place to know - I am sure you would see that as a good thing. Might wonder too why Trump doesn't make it happen.

I happen to know the Atlantic pretty well and there is no reason to suggest they would go to print without the writer providing detailed sources for the claims. Reputations are built and the Atlantic has built a good one over time for high quality journalism. Something so many youtubers and cable tv players could only dream of..

Point was that the one thing he addressed was the logging in story - and said he had no such problem - when his own lawsuit admitted that he did have the problem. Other things he would not specifically address - make of it what you will.

Again, when was Trump "...very much involved in activities with Epstein"?

What were the words written on the card? I don't know if he wrote it or not, how could I deny it?

So tell me why the Biden DOJ did not prosecute Trump in the four years they had the unredacted files?

Why did they not even leak any dirt in the run up to the election?

I will happy discuss Kash if you can provide a transcript, not an article claiming he said this or that.

Hey, remember the "good Nazi" lie? Biden was still regurgitating that in 2024.

You are picking one comment and trying to tear it apart. I have explained what I meant.

The words and drawing are publicly available to look at. Not sure why you are commenting if you haven't seen it.

I said you do not deny it was likely written by Trump - I did not say you are in a position to 100 per cent deny it - I am noting what is likely based on the facts - it is very likely he wrote it and I doubt you deny that it is very likely.

In terms of why others didn't release it - who knows - maybe a whole range of people are implicated - Jasmine Crockett says it was due to the ongoing Maxwell case including appeals - maybe it was not a focus at the time - it was Trump who made news saying he would release the files. This though is irrelevant as to why Trump doesn't release them fully now.

Have a look at the press conference of Kash Patel from Tuesday if you wish to do so.

You were the one commenting on what it meant, not me. I do not remember it being that damning.

Why do you think it likely he wrote it? I rather doubt it.

I saw it, and I have no reason to believe he is a drunk incompetent which is what the Atlantic piece alleges.

Looking at all related indices, his performance has been outstanding.

He ran away already ! What else to say ! Taco night ?

Maybe have a further look .

Note it was not simply a separate card but part of a book of a bound scrap book that Ms Maxwell put together. It would seem odd that she would include a fake of this kind particularly given the text - and that no one would subsequently clarify that it was a fake. The signature is extremely similar to his of the time. They were friends at the time - one year before he said he is a terrific guy who was a lot of fun to be with - so it makes sense he would be asked to do it and that it would be included. As they say - Up To You - believe what you will.

I said nothing of it being fake, I said I doubt he wrote it. As I remember, it sounded a bit cryptic, which is something Trump generally is not. Apparently neither of us knows what was actually written on the care, so how incriminating it may be is suspect. Again, I do not remember it being that damning.

Yes, they were friends 25 years ago and apparently had a falling out.

Yes, Trump is a horndog.

Yes, Trump may have written the note on the card,

Yes, Trump says a lot of people are great.

Yes, Trump is a braggadocios blow-hard

Yes, I am still happy Trump, and not Harris won the election.

Yeah, I just read it, It does not sound incriminating, nor does it sound like Trump.

It does look like his signature, you're right about that, but I never denied that.

10 reasons Trump won

Biden too old stayed too long

Should have let Democrats pick candidate.

Candidate too closely aligned with Biden failures.

Border failure - too open - Trump stymied fixes but damage was done

Inflation failure - Trump caused most during Covid - same for many economies. Biden thought - as many did - the economy needed a further boost post covid but was wrong - terrible inflation

Candidate woman - some don't like

Candidate whiny voice - some don't like

Candidate did ok but gave some terrible answers and vague answers

People remembered Trump fondly due to covid payments and due to passing of time

People convinced by right wing media that far left policies primarily relating to sexuality and gender issues were mainstream when they were hardly mentioned - they took issues that had some complexity and made them seem black and white and Democrats all look like politically correct duds and Democrats were not good at fighting back on this

Trump lucky as hell.

But Donald is the dud and people are starting to get it except the hardcore including some expats in Thailand for whom he can do no wrong. Not necessarily you but you do seem a big fan.

Trump won because most people in the US do not want what he left is selling.
