Vientiane embassy processing times...

Featured Replies

I have two questions about applying for a STV at Vientiane:

1) I understand that you should be in Laos to apply, but how do they know if you're in the country when you apply online? Do they ask you to upload your entry stamp or what?

2) after paying for your visa at the embassy how long do they usually take to send the visa to you by email? It will be a simple single entry tourist visa. Nothing complicated.

Replies based on first or second hand experience please, not speculation. Thank you.

SETV I presume?

STV (Special Tourist Visa) was stopped a while ago.

Not first hand but based upon several reports on here yes, entry stamp required and perhaps hotel booking confirmation. Most recent reports say it's a fairly quick process, 2 or 3 days.

OP, correct answer ^ above.

Note that after you make the eVisa online application you will attend the embassy for payment.

Do that asap

No problem.

Just a heads up. When you go to embassy/consulate avoid the spruikers offering assistance.

Just pay the required application fee and process time based on previous reports will be quick.

After you have the eVisa.. Please post a Report of process etc

Also, make sure you print out the QR code that you receive from the e-visa system for the payment. You must have it printed out in order to make the payment at the embassy. There are places nearby the embassy where you can print it out.

I have another question, please.

How long is the processing time for a Non-O (single entry based on marry) in Vientanne? Again only 2 or 3 days or more like 2 to 3 weeks (which the embassy in Berlin needs usually)?

Thanks for a hint.

It's the same for most "regular" visas (tourist, Non-O, Non-B, Non-ED) about 2-3 working days after you go to the consulate and pay.

The real linchpin is how well you are at supplying the documentation required to get the visa issued without them needing to send you a "request for additional documentation" email <- which can SLOW the process down considerably

Don't forget to have your wife sign the copies you're uploading of her i/d, house book, marriage certificate, AND don't forget to upload your visa/entry stamp to prove you're actually in Lao when you apply

Thanks so much!
