AIS - any way to get cheap international call rates?

Featured Replies

I've got a Net Marathon SIM with AIS and I just called Australia for my Aussie phone company for under 2 mins only to find out they don't have 24 hour support and it cost me about 80 baht for that phone call, which is crazy high. I need to call them again when they're open. Is there any way to get cheap international calls from AIS to Australia with my current Net Marathon SIM or do I have to be stung with a call rate of about 40 baht per minute? Who knows how long I'll need to deal with the Aussie call centre. If it's 30 mins that's gonna cost 1,200 baht just for the phone call.

I have AIS but installed Talk360 app, crystal clear when I've used it, top up $10 to start with and away you go

Another option is mytello.

After Skype finished, I use this for calls to Oz.

Don't use + as the calling prefix. Having said that even if you do should not exceed 20/minute. AIS rates and prefix options here.....

https://www.ais.th/en/consumers/package/international/international-call/00500

Ok thanks. It looks like 6-7 baht per minute is the cheapest rate.

Skype and Skype calls are available on TEAMS. It's a bit of rigmarole in setting it up but it's worth. Also get your Skype comments history.

If I have to call AUS from Thailand I usually use WhatsApp but if they don't have WhatsApp I call with my Thai sim, the prefix I use is 003+61--------

Use Calling 360 or My Tello. Very cheap.

+1, seems about 10x cheaper than Talk360. I will try Mytello next after my Skype credit expires.

Put 00500 before the number - but call quality is reduced a bit.

003 seems to work for any oversees calls.

Use to Hong Kong as well when I need to call a hospital clinic or bank there etc.

003+852....

I just checked out Teams info. They charge monthly whether you use it or not, unlike Skype which maintained a balance.

Teams also does not support 800 freecalls, a big plus when calling for support, banking aso.

NOT a Skype substitute!

I use code 00500 which is about 7 THB per minute. I believe there's another code you can use too.

I call the US frequently using my Magic Jack app ( VoIP - Voice over Internet Protocol) it's ony $20 (total) a year

Australia should have some of these services ..

Top alternatives popular in Australia include Vonage, Ooma, and Dingtone, with VoIP providers like Exetel offering residential VoIP

I've also used that previously calling Hong Kong and Australia.

( but normally used 003 if WhatsApp not avbl).

Just downloaded My telly which is UNDER 1 baht per minute to HK and for Australia, 0.53baht per minute to a landline and B1.71/m to a mobile.

Much cheaper than all the rest (excluding free internet chat apps).

Things like calling an Oz bank or the 'Comm. Superannuation Corp' can take ages to be connected and then to explain the query.

No monthly fees.

Buy credit and then make your calls. (* first call free)

#if downloading and registering turn off your VPN. Didn't work for me if VPN connected.

Worth a try.

(and No I don't work for them!!)
