Thailand post sending to US

Featured Replies

I have a large parcel to send to a friend in the US
I was going to send it last September but after Trump messed up all the tarrifs Thailand post stopped sending parcels
Dhl/Fedex is crazy money so wondering if anyone has sent anything other than a letter to the US
Also in the past you did not need a HTS code but i have seen you do now
Its showing as under $800 value as exempt but i am sure you need to pay the Trump tarrifs (19%)
Would the receiver pay these extra tarrifs?

The parcel is 110cm x 40 x 30 and value is around $400
Dhl and fedex both wanted over 20,000 baht to send it
Thaipost is showing at around 2750 baht

It has nothing to do with the tariffs.

Suggest you do a search online for courier like "Fastship" - cheaper than the Post Office and dependent where you are they will collect it. Dragon Express is another one.

Thailand Post stopped accepting parcels as soon late August 2025

What did you think it was?

Thanks tried that but almost the same as DHL

Fastship wanted 18k

Dragon Courier is a choice. They have both duty inclusive and exclusive service.

I haven't sent any mail or packages TO the USA recently, but I did receive a letter from the USA that took 2 weeks to arrive.

Trump Tariff has been reduced from 19% to 10% now.

I was looking today at how to get a one page form to the USA. There are annual reports about to be sent out and requiring physical returns. This was a listing of minimum prices ( i started from 1 gram and stopped at 20 grams, It is ridiculous that long standing global postal agreements could be broken so thoroughly by one man's edicts.

I would recommend getting in touch with the U.S. Embassy American Citizen Services at [email protected] and ask them if you can mail required reports to them to forward on in the pouch system. I know they do that with ballots.

I live 2 hours outside of CM consulate. If I remember correctly, they also require US postage to already be applied to the envelope. I have previously received help with one form by involving my congressional rep. I'm urging support to make it possible for standard and required forms to have online completion similar to done for FinCEN FBAR reports.

Even that is a patchwork response to the damage 47 has done to the USPS domestically and to being able to mail forms and letters to friends, family and other institutions.

I will see what they say but as they are mostly based on volumetric weight they end up costing a fortune if its a large box (Guitar size)
Thailand Post always charge for weight regardless of size
Fine if you are sending something the size of a shoe box but anything large is not worth sending

I couldn't even send a 1st class letter last week without filling out some 'form' on DPOST > dpostinter.thaikandpost.com
I filled out the form, but I still don't know what to do with it. I'll send it to my friend to print, then I'll head back to the PO sometime this week. (probably tomorrow).

I would not send it regular mail. The US mail system, which used to have a fairly good reputation, has been so destroyed by Trump's policies that it is incredibly slow, inefficient and can't be trusted. I had a credit card (basicly a letter) sent from Oregon to Thailand a few months ago. It took 10 days just to go from Oregon across the country (don't ask why) then back to the west coast to leave for Thailand. It took only 3 days to not only get to Thailand, but all the way to Udornthani. Several friends in the US have complained of problems with bills being sent in plenty of time, but taking too long to reach their destination.
