Can non-o 90 days marriage be extended?

Featured Replies

Can non-o marriage be extended for 30-60 days more. Or its only 1 year? Talking about chonburi immigration.

I have 1 more month to idle the 400k for the 1 year application, my plan is to try to apply for the 1 year extension without an agency.. I will have 2 weeks left on my visa after, so therefore i might need more time.

Cause i feel like using an agency is kind of pointless cause 90% documents u have to personally give them anyway.

Any recent reports of applying marriage visa in jomptien immigration are they more strict? We contacted a agency and they said 15k but have to go to bangkok even they based in pattaya.. Not sure why though.

With a Non O visa you can apply for a 60 day extension to visit wife.

Or you can apply for 12 month extension.

Sometimes people obtain the 60 days to buy time to season the funds.

As in your case.

In the main folk use agent to avoid financial requirements.

In any event agent would only do hand holding service. They process extensions retirement.

For Your Info only:
at Jomtien (Chon Buri) immigration,
you can even extend your Non-O (follow Thai wife) immediately as "retired" one year extension.
(wife has to be present at application)
I know that the requirements are higher (800,000 THB) but the application is processed faster (within 24 hours)

Why would you need more time?

If your 400K is seasoned 2 weeks before your 90 day permission of stay expires you have ample time to submit an application for a 1 year extension.

You can copy all the relevant documents beforehand in preparation, just leaving a visit to the bank and obtaining a KR2 until ready to submit.

You cannot apply for an extension based on a reason different than the original 90-day visa for the first extension. So that extension must be based on marriage. Next year the top could apply based on retirement if they wanted to switch, but they don't have a choice for this year. Though the 60-day visiting Thai family extension is available as previously mentioned.

How would your local IO know?, is there some sort of data base. I have come in on a new E-Visa, the stamp just says Non O, and the date..... (London Thai Embassy)

Your local IO would know because the reason for the issue of an E-visa is written in the remarks in Thai.

I also have an E-visa issued by the London Thai Embassy based on being married to a Thai. Previously I had an E-visa based on Retirement and it said so in the remarks in Thai.

I meant the stamp thats in your passport. I know what it says on the E visa approval page. Are you saying that you have to show your actual E visa print out at extension time. Surely they go by your permission to stay stamp in your passport....

Exactly.

As already stated your first extension would be on the basis of what the Non O was applied for.

For subsequent extensions you can change from example based on marriage to based on retirement.

Wife would need to attend immigration.

Also note could be mild push back for various office to change from retirement to marriage

When registering my address at Udon Thani I had to show my E-visa .

Also in my passport when I entered on an E-visa issued for retirement purpose the IO stamped my passport and wrote in Thai under the stamp " retirement".

The point is Immigration will have a record of what visa you entered Thailand with and for what purpose it was issued.

You are making that waffle up. I have my answer to my question. Thx anyway.....

I'm on retirement extension and am going to switch to marriage extension with money in the bank option.

Am I allowed to do it?

Chiang Mai Immigration.

Cheers

Yes.

Note that your wife will need be with you.

While the two months prior to application based on marriage some would suggest 400k is sufficient.

Suggest you maintain the 800k till application.

Here is cut paste from old ubonjoe post.

Nothing much has changed.

"You wife will need to be with you when you apply for the 60 day extension

Marriage certificate plus a copy of it. Some office may also want a copy of the Kor Ror 2 marriage registry.

Signed copies of your wife's ID card and house book registry.

Copy of your passport photo page and entry stamp"

Which immigration office?
