As I get older, I seek out flavours from my youth.

As well as baked beans & marmite, I occasionally get an urge for a bowl of cornflakes or rice crispies.

As you mention that, how about, (and this is one of my favourite light meals) Baked Beans, on Marmite, on buttered toast.

Ideally Hovis brown bread for the toast and optionally, 1 or 2 drops (no more) of Worcester sauce in the beans before you heat them.

I love looking at photos of my dead family. Reminds me of how much we've all lost. The days when husbands and wives lived together until death, we could all afford to live in nice houses with gardens,

Growing up, I replaced branded products with higher quality, but cheaper, alternatives. A supermarket own-brand with a higher blackcurrant juice and lower sugar content, as an example.

So, in effect, I have no brand loyalty at all. Especially as they all eventually get sold off, only for the buyer to lower the quality in order to recoup their investment.

For the brands that remain unadulterated, kudos. But I imagine they are few and far between. I prefer to peruse the ingredient list.

Still do

Reese's peanut butter cups.

Bagels I missed initially but nothing now. Wife stayed with an owner of a huge Asian Restaurant chain for 15 years and they travelled often and learned how to cook all types of foods. I'm simple so she just makes hamburgers and other western food with Thai spices. My lunches are tasty and missing nothing!

Ive never eaten British Beans on toast, which I understand must be british Heinz, on buttered white bread, with Worsteshire and Cheddar. Im going to try it.

American canned baked beans are possible the worst food around, down their with that Icelandic rotten shark.

Maybe just luck but I have avoided crabs my entire life !

Great corndogs. Farmer John all-beef wieners & Gold Medal corndog mix, fried in peanut oil with Frenche's yellow mustard.

Here's a befitting and apt words to reminisce...

Yesterday, when I was young The taste of life was sweet Like rain upon my tongue
I teased at life as if It were a foolish game The way an evening breeze
May tease a candle flame The thousand dreams I dreamed The splendid things I planned
I always built to last On weak and shifting sand I lived by night and shunned
The naked light of day And only now I see How the years have ran away

Yesterday, when I was young There were so many songs That waited to be sung
So many wild pleasures Lay in store for me And so much pain
My dazzled eyes refused to see I ran so fast that time And youth at last ran out
I never stopped to think What life was all about And every conversation
That I can now recall Concerns itself with me And nothing else at all
Yesterday, the moon was blue And every crazy day
Brought something new to do And I used my magic age As if it were a wand
And never saw the waste And emptiness beyond The game of love I played
With arrogance and pride And every flame I lit So quickly, quickly died
The friends I made all seemed Somehow to drift away And only I am left
On stage to end the play, yesterday when I was young...

LAZADA have.

Grew up around NYC, with some of the best food worldwide all in one place. Dad cooked a lot, mostly Polish ethnic food, some of which I miss, like Pierogis, Potato Pancakes, Stuffed Cabbage and Stews.

As good a Pizza as you can find anywhere, Bagels, Cheesesteaks, Deli Sandwiches, Killer Hot Dogs, Cheeseburgers, Texas BBQ and Jersey Tomatoes. Happily all of this you can get in almost any American major city, especially where I lived in Texas, and which I'll enjoy when we move back.

Decent foreign food here but spread out in the country areas. Most of that ethnic food I'll only have occasionally as it's pretty heavy, but very enjoyable when I have it. Have never tried that Vegemite or Marmite as I hear they're loved and hated, but would like to at least once.

Boar's Head kielbasa with fried kraut & onions, mustard on a toasted kaiser

My mother cooked stuffed cabbage, stuffed bell peppers, potatoes pancakes stews and whatnot. We always had of pierogies on Good Friday, and she fried the leftovers for breakfast. Always poppyseed & nut rolls on Easter.

Looking to order Kielbasa soon, finding a couple of places that ship it. Dad made it with sauerkraut also. The rest is also missed, especially the pierogies and stuffed cabbage. I make stuffed peppers here occasionally when I find good beef. Do remember those poppy seed rolls, as Dad got them , along with Babka.

My sisters and nieces still make pierogies and stuffed cabbage. My older sister still bakes the poppyseed rolls.

I gave up on the beef here, it's too hit or miss, and the pork is always good.

Did you have garagekey?

Is that something that sounds like another Polish term, as it does sound familiar? Edited: Grachki We lived in the NYC area, so I do remember that slang being used. Dad spoke Polish to friends

If you can find them, Branston Baked Beans are, IMO, much tastier than Heinz.
