I moved from BBL to SCB because after umpteen years of BBL just having to photo copy my bank book , then stamp and sign said copies , the new Immigration chief in Ratchaburi said he would not accept it and a years statement was now required .

After several trips to and from from Immi to my local bank I had had enough .
Bank told me it would take X days for a yearly statement to arrive , which would put me outside my extension date.
Totally stressed out .

So how do you reconcile these 2 contradictory statements, then?

The way I get around this same issue is that I order a 11 month statement approximately 1 month before I do my extension. The day before I apply I go to the bank to get my letter and the statement for

For the last time. Applying for extension in last few days is crazy. Embarrassing posts from you

  • Some offices do accept consecutive 6-month statements which BBL branches can (and do) issue on the spot. Not sure whether CW are one of them, though, since they're not my office. But clearly something

They are not contradictory .
I was asked if I was aware of the BBL time schedule for a 12 month statement , and I said I wasn't because I have never needed one before , all the previous years a copy of bank book pages , stamped and signed by BBL has been sufficient.
Then when the new regime came in and said the bank book copies were no good and I had to have a 12 month statement , I returned to BBL and found out then about the time schedule.....
Looks like you read my posts in reverse order.

I think it was 7 working days , my rule of thumb was to apply for my extension roughly 4 or 5 days before the extension expiry date.
But with the second new regime to take over my Immi office in 4 years , things unpredictably change and sometimes revert back to the old regime.
I have never needed a yearly statement for my extension , just bank book pages copied , stamped and signed by BBL.

I don't understand what you don't understand.

My first 10 years doing extensions CW my bank book photocopies were sufficient.

Then BANG io at CW wanted 12 month bank statement.

They told me next year to obtain statement.

No problem.

Bottom line is applying for extension with few days remaining is just crazy.

I have posted in many threads that immigration seem to be moving to 12 month bank statement.

FD a/c possible exception.

Suggest next year apply with weeks to spare rather than days. Poor planning

How is it poor planning , you got caught the same as I did , but they let you start the following year.
They didn't with me.
I planned for the following year by opening an account with SCB .
I don't know why everybody is getting excited......

Irrelevant as yes they let it slide however I did not apply in last few days of extension.

I apply weeks prior. If sent away I would have plenty of time even if my bank was BBL.

You are so missing the point.

This is not points scoring.

Leaving extension till last few days is just plain crazy.

Something you fail to comprehend.

Others reading thread will not make your rookie mistake

Why are you getting agitated , you keep banging away trying to tell everybody what to do , just because somebody does something different to you it doesn't necessarily mean they are wrong.

Different people lead different lives and and have different time tables .
Your advice is well meaning , but just leave it there , as advice.
all the best from a " crazy rookie "😃

In your opinion....Just let it go .

So you stand by applying for extension in only days prior to expiry.

Ridiculous

Ridiculous , Crazy , Rookie , how have I lasted so long.

A question a fair few of us on here are also asking of you. A bit rich of you to accuse @DrJack54 of always wanting to have the last word, I think!

Anyway, just you keep on showing up at your local immigration office at not a single second before 16:29:59 on the day your current permission of stay expires for your new extension, then. Myself, I'll still carry on showing up at mine at the earliest possible opportunity 30 days before my current permission to stay expires if that's OK by you, thank you very much.

Well you can probably kiss goodbye to any chance of being able to open a new account with Kasikorn in view of their ridiculous newish requirement for proof of a (non-existent in most cases) home country address:

The last time I went into SCB to get a statement they kept asking me for my home country address. I told them each time I don't have an address there, I use my Thai address for everything. They finally ended up accepting it. There must be some section in their system that makes them put in an entry to proceed.

You are being a bit melodramatic aren't you.
Nobody has suggested leaving it until your suggested time frame of 16:29:59.
and nobody has suggested that nobody could do the extension 30 days earlier.
You are just being silly.......
Be careful you don't run out of "thumb down " emojis.......

I did my marriage extension in Hat Yai yesterday, I can thoroughly recommend Krungsri Bank who are excellent, letter and 3 months statements in and out in 20 minutes cost Bht300. Accepted I use the money on deposit option rather than monthly income, so not exactly the same and a bit easier.

Over the years I have popped in to atleast 4 branches of SCB (none are my actual branch) to request a bank statement/letter for immigration, and it usually takes them around 30 minutes to produce for me.
Never been asked for my home country address by SCB.

Was this recently that you were asked for your home country address by SCB, and where in Thailand was this?

Expensive (even if it did work). Bank usually charges 200 baht for a statement (3 or 6 mths printed locally or 12 mths from HO). So 2400 baht for monthly statements is a bit silly don't you think.

I get one at six months and then the final one on the day of my extension. Doing this I don't have to deal with the up to one week wait. So I end up paying an extra 200 baht,

In January of this year. At the branch in Ratchaburi on Petchkasem Rd.
