Money transfer options

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Looking for some help please. UK citizen living in Thailand

I need an alternative to Wise for regular money transfer to Thailand because Wise do not cover transferring funds from the Isle of Man, which is where my most of my funds will be.

My short term workaround has been to transfer from IoM to a UK account then Wise to Thailand but not an ideal long term solution.

Have tried a couple of the mainstream alternatives, Revolut & Remitly, but I can not open an account with them from a Thai address.

Any pointers gratefully accepted 🍻

Can I ask why not? Should be free transfers from IOM (if held in GBP) to UK bank unless you think the local UK account is under threat?

Wise list the Isle of Man as a place where you can live to hold money with Wise. Is the restriction because you live elsewhere and that prevents you or something else?

I just want to minimize putting money through my UK account

Spoke to Wise and they said they do not cover the Isle of Man

Why can't you transfer direct from your IOM account to Thailand? I have savings with Skipton in Guernsey, and I have set up my Thai bank as an alternative nominated account to my UK bank, so if I wanted I could send sterling direct from Guernsey to Thailand. I've never actually needed to do that because I cover what I need from my UK account. I use OFX to transfer in Baht.

Have you tried TorFx, OFX, Currency Fair?

Thanks for helping but this covers countries where you live. When I try to link another bank account to my Wise account this is the screen I get:

Will give OFX a shot 🍻
