Has anyone else experienced what feels like inconsistent or bias

Featured Replies

Has anyone else experienced what feels like inconsistent or biased moderation on Tripadvisor forums?

I’ve noticed occasions where posts seem to be removed arbitrarily, while certain long-established contributors appear to have far more influence when reporting or challenging other users’ posts. Sometimes it can give the impression that there are “inner circle” dynamics at work between veteran contributors and moderators.

There are a few commonly used terms for these kinds of online community behaviours:

• Clique / Echo Chamber – where a small group reinforces the same views while sidelining dissenting opinions.
• Moderator Bias – where moderation appears unevenly applied depending on the contributor involved.
• Weaponized Flagging – where coordinated reporting by multiple users may trigger automated removals.
• “Good Ol’ Boys” Club – where long-time members seem protected while outsiders are scrutinised more heavily.

I’m not claiming this is definitely happening, I’m trying to build up a pisture - I’m interested to know whether others have had similar experiences on Tripadvisor or other heavily moderated travel forums.

Have you found moderation there to be fair and transparent? Or have you experienced unexplained removals, selective enforcement, or difficulty getting meaningful responses from support?
