Trump’s Iran gamble backfires in spectacular style

Donald Trump’s Iran war nightmare has exploded into full view — with soaring fuel prices, plunging approval ratings and oil tankers trapped in the Strait of Hormuz threatening global economic chaos. The article paints a picture of a president boxed in by a crisis he once claimed he could control. And now? Critics say the grand scale of the blunder has been laid bare for the world to see.

The fallout has hit hard and fast. US fuel prices are reportedly hovering near record highs while fears of recession grow as shipping traffic remains disrupted in one of the world’s most crucial oil routes. Trump, known for deflecting blame, is now facing mounting questions over whether he was sold a disastrous vision of victory by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to a reconstruction by The New York Times, the turning point came during a high-stakes White House Situation Room meeting. Netanyahu reportedly assured Trump that Iran’s ballistic missile programme could be crushed within weeks and claimed the regime would be left too weak to retaliate effectively. He also argued the strikes could trigger opposition forces inside Iran to rise up and topple the government.

But those promises have come under fierce scrutiny. Former US Defence Secretary Robert Gates revealed that Netanyahu had made strikingly similar claims to him back in 2009. Gates said he warned Netanyahu at the time that he was “dead wrong” about the resilience of the Iranian regime and dismissed the idea that it would collapse quickly after an attack.

The article highlights how Netanyahu has repeatedly warned for decades that Iran was only “weeks” or “months” away from building a nuclear bomb. From speeches in the 1990s to dramatic addresses at the United Nations, he consistently argued the threat was imminent. Yet intelligence assessments from both Israel’s Mossad and US agencies reportedly contradicted many of those alarm bells.

Even Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, reportedly told senators that Iran was not actively building a nuclear weapon and that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had not authorised a weapons programme since suspending it in 2003. Trump brushed aside those assessments, reportedly declaring: “I don’t care what she said.”

Inside Trump’s inner circle, divisions reportedly exploded. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth allegedly pushed hard for military action, reportedly arguing that conflict with Iran was inevitable anyway. Trump allies Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner also reportedly backed the strikes, while CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Marco Rubio allegedly dismissed Netanyahu’s arguments in blunt terms.

The article claims conservative commentator Tucker Carlson repeatedly warned Trump that war with Iran could wreck his presidency. Carlson recalled Trump appearing unenthusiastic before the military operation, yet still pressing ahead. Asked how he knew things would work out, Trump allegedly shrugged: “Because it always is.”

Critics now argue Trump ignored repeated warnings and acted on instinct rather than strategy. The article points out that despite campaigning in 2024 on promises to “stop wars,” Trump has already authorised strikes in Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria and Venezuela during his second term. He has also threatened action against Cuba, Panama, Greenland and Canada.

As economic fears deepen and political pressure intensifies, the article argues Trump cannot shift responsibility elsewhere. Netanyahu may have influenced him, but the decision ultimately rested with the president himself. Whatever regrets may now be surfacing behind closed doors, the article insists Trump “owns this war.”

What happens next could define the rest of his presidency. With energy markets rattled, allies divided and critics circling, the stakes are escalating by the day. And as the crisis drags on, the question hanging over Washington is becoming impossible to ignore — how much more damage can this war inflict?

The grand scale of Trump’s foolishness has been laid bare

What a guileless chump!

It Should NOT be about Trump ! it is about how America is becoming a Failed country and bringing the world into a global recession

If you look at Trump's history it is absolutely littered with one failure after another. Some people claim that he's a remarkable man because he's worth billions of dollars, but when the vast majority of that money is stolen and hustled and gained through fraud and various cons, that's not much of an accomplishment.

The amount of chaos Trump has caused for the entire planet with his unnecessary forever war is astounding. It was sich a bad choice and the timing could not have been worse, as the world economy is already challenged enough. This means nothing to him as his wealth continues to grow through massive corruption. What did they think was going to happen with the strait and why did they think they could handle the consequences of this recklessness? Is that a question that any of his supporters ever ask?

Trump deserves severe punishment for this act. America will be reaping the blowback for years to come and nobody knows how long the chaos will last. Dumb and dumber. Pure Don style stupidity and staggering levels of ignorance and hubris.

The only good that can come from this is if MAGA devotees finally realize what a dunce they supported and rise up against this street trash pig president.

One of the biggest liabilities that Trump had leading up to this war was the decision to use two absolute imbeciles in the form of Witkoff and Kushner. They are both rabid Zionists, they both deliberately lied to Iran during the negotiations in order to fool them into thinking that the US was sincere, and look at the outcome that we have.

The thing that a very tiny mind like Trump doesn't get is that Iran will not negotiate with the US at this point. Many reports are coming out that Witkoff is begging the Iranian foreign minister for meetings and his calls are not being returned.

The US has backed themselves into a corner and the economic devastation has been way beyond what they anticipated, and the price they're going to pay for this in the midterms is going to be brutal. Unchecked inflation, rising unemployment, the closing of hundreds of thousands of small businesses, no return of manufacturing to the US, a shortage of labor due to extreme and short sighted immigration policy, and the abandonment of any hope that Trump would improve the quality of life for Americans, but instead we get sabotage of those hopes for the entire planet.

Don's demise will be a good thing, as Trump will lose his power and he will just become a whiny gutter trash punk, will have to deal with being doubly impotent, and hopefully he will eventually disappear into oblivion. Morbid sickness is quite likely, considering his rapid decline, and his three or four cheeseburger a day diet.

See ya Don. You will not be missed, the world will celebrate your demise with such glee, millions will take to the streets and welcome the return of civility, decency, honor, grace and hope.

As much as I dislike Vance I would sure prefer him over one of the Trump offspring. They are all spectacularly corrupt, morally bankrupt, spawned by a garbage man, and the very definition of an empty suit.
