Where to buy a 3.5 foot box bed for non-standard size mattress?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys!

I have a 197 x 104 (length x width) mattress. Can't seem to find a simple box bed to fit the mattress. Looked at the major online platforms with no luck.

Anyone know of a place that sells or can build a simple box bed for me? No headboard is really necessary. An ideal size is probably around 200 x 105 to 107.

Thanks for your time.

\Cheers

Try the furniture shops on Chiang Moi road. If they don't have, they might make one for you.

Hi! We had a similar situation and ended up ordering a simple custom wooden bed from a furniture maker outside Big C in Udon Thani, in the parking garage area. They made it to size, delivered it, and installed it at our home in Sakon Nakhon, so that might be worth checking out.

One thing I would be careful with: your mattress size, 197 x 104 cm, is very close to the standard Thai 3.5 ft mattress size, but not exactly the same. If you have a box bed made too tightly around this mattress, replacing the mattress later could become a headache. Personally, I’d ask them to build the inside size to fit a standard 3.5 ft mattress, roughly 198 x 106/107 cm, with just a little clearance.

That way your current mattress should still fit, but in the future you can buy a normal standard-size mattress much more easily.

Well, thanks guys - I admit I wasn't really expecting any/much help for this rather unusual request. 🙃 I guess I'll have to look at the Fhaham and Chiang Moi Road areas to see if I can find anything suitable (Udon's a bit too far away, I think - but thanks for the extra good advice).

It might take a while, as I've recently come out of hospital and am housebound at the moment, but at least I can start to make some plans.

Many thanks, guys - cheers 😀

This is the right solution. I had a similar open-air furniture shop build one for me. It was only 500b more than their standard version, and they built it in two days. Many of those shops manufacture simple products themselves.

Will have to keep this in mind for the next time we need a bamboo bed frame.
