If you want to label the desire for high quality a form of snobbery, go right ahead. Means nothing to me. Only pleasure, efficiency, enjoyment and satisfaction.

Did you neglect to activate your sense of humour this morning? 😊

A smile would have been enough of a response.

On the other hand, I don't think that you derive any more pleasure, efficiency, enjoyment and satisfaction from your system than I can from mine. But who cares about that? My goal here is to help the OP to obtain at least a half decent combo within his budget, where hopefully he can attain similar levels of pleasure, efficiency, enjoyment and satisfaction to the esoteric users of Apple kit, albeit on a modest budget. 😉

P.S. In case you are still missing the humour, I own quite a few pieces of Apple kit...

I connect my desktop and my laptop to a widescreen monitor. It totally transforms the experience.

Why would you connect one or the other to your wide monitor, especially the laptop. Do you move the monitor or the laptop?

My Beelink QR6 into my Samsung 4k 55" monitor is good enough for me. I run Linux Mint.

I don't post just for the OP, as I stated 6-8k doesn't get enough IMHO

But for any others, wanting low spec option to tower, or not sure what brand to buy, then ASUS info added. None of my ASUS laptops had faults, and only retired (handed down), as needing upgrade as my computing needs advanced.

You recommend a bunch of towers, or obsolete crap, which he stated he wants to get away from.

Troll along

The 6-8000Bt is only for the Mini PC. I am not replacing the monitor unless I was advised by a majority of members to recommend an AIO, and that is certainly not the case.

Not sure if you're going to stick with your monitor and just want another tower, and maybe a mini one but you can get refurbished ones here at the link I'll provide.

You might have system problems like corrupt system files, so running a "scan now" can help with the crashes,. Check for Corrupt System Files

Corrupted Window s files can cause background services or programs to crash. [1, 2]

  • Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt.

  • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

  • Once finished, type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and press Enter. Restart your PC. (Make sure you put a space after sfc) DON'T interfere with the scan until it's finished. if it says fixed corrupted files, just reboot computer. If itsays cannot repair, run the DISM, then scannow again, the same ways. let them run If it finishes and says nothing was wrong, no need to reboot.

  • Along with checking your memory............https://www.bslcomputer.com/category/desktops-%E0%B8%84%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B1%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%87%E0%B9%82%E0%B8%95%E0%B9%8A%E0%B8%B0/47

I guess a few missed that criteria...

As I have said the price quoted is only for the Mini PC itself.

There is only ONE, second from the bottom left, between Ctrl and Alt, with a Windows icon on it.

Here's the instructions You only have to press the Windows key and search will come up bottom left.Win+x will bring up apps, then you go to run, then enter...........Steps to run DISM as an administrator:

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard.

  2. Type cmd or Command Prompt into the search bar.

  3. Right-click Command Prompt in the search results and select Run as administrator.

  4. Click Yes if the User Account Control (UAC) prompt asks for permission.

  5. The window title should read Administrator: Command Prompt. You can now type your DISM command and press Enter.

Common repair commands include: [1]

  • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /CheckHealth

  • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth

  • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth...................Make sure you make a space after each word. Example.................DISM.exe (space) /Online (space) /Cleanup-image (space) /CheckHealth After you run DISM (don't interfere, let it run), it will tell you it's finished. Then you run scan now like this......Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. [1]

  • Wait for the Scan: The utility will verify your system files. Do not close the window until the verification reaches 100%. Do this the same way. After DISM is finished, just type sfc (space) /scannow and hit enter, wait until finished. It will either say no problems or it found corrupt files and fixed them. If it fixed xcorrupt files, reboot computer. if it finished scanning and found no problems, you won't need to reboot

Sorry cannot help further as I have ditched Windows for Linux Mint. So much better, and quicker.

Install Glary Utilities, free version, and run that. Gets rid of junk, temp and unwanted files.

Optimise your SSDs with Windows tool.

Not sure if you're still waiting for the scans to finish, as they take some time especially after rebooting if it fixed corrupted files. You have to hit Windows, then the search bar comes up. Type CMD, then enter, and a black box will come up on desktop. that's where you do the DISM and scannow scans.

It has to be done as administrator to work.

6-8k THB is not a realistic budget for anything you expect to last.

Haven't had a tower for decades. For your needs, just a basic laptop would be enough. That's all I have, as do about the same, with exception of editing photos & vids. With that, I need a bit more speed, and graphic card has it's own dedicated RAM.

Also use SSD drives, internal (most have now) & external SSD drives.

Use 55" TV as monitor, so laptop is only 14". Wireless mouse & keyboard, so I can relax in bed while using or watching movies, as my back doesn't do 90° sitting very well.

6-8kbht is easily enough for a mATX system.

Just use a few s/h parts from Shoppee.

I built a great little system last month for around 5.5kbht.

MSI A520m-a mobo 1300bht

8gb Corsair 3000 ddr4 800bht (s/h shoppee)

Tsunami case 420bht

Tsunami PSU 500bht

Ryzen 3400g CPU (s/h) 1200bht

256 SSD 1000bht (s/h)

Great for streaming, torrents, browsing and YouTube.

I built it as a frontend for a Jellyfin server.

Running win10

Why not buy a full s/h PC, up and running.

My phone is sufficient for what you suggest.

Why do so many tower cases come with see-through panels. Who really wants to look what second hand stuff you have in your PC. 555

Lights up like an Xmas tree .......... without the see through panels that would all be wasted.

As for s/h parts, some stuff fails (so buy new) some stuff never fails (so buy s/h).

PS, don't think your phone can host a Jellyfin server and stream my 10TB movie and TV Show collection.

In the 90s, did you have a collection of VHS tapes with pirated videos?

I'm not sure why anyone is suggesting that you do this, without knowing anything about your PC specs in the first place.

Please press Ctrl + Shift + Esc (one after the other, holding each one down) Task Manager will open.

Then select the Performance tab.

You'll see a column of items on the left, beginning with CPU/Memory/Disk...

Right Click on CPU and choose Copy and then Paste the result here in a new post.

Repeat for Memory and Disk

Example from my own device:

Disk 0 (C:)

HS-SSD-E900 128G

Capacity: 119 GB

Formatted: 119 GB

System disk: Yes

Page file: Yes

Type: SSD

Read speed 0 KB/s

Write speed 0 KB/s

Active time 0%

Average response time 0 ms

I know that. You can get a decent general use PC within budget. Mini/Micro PC have a capacity of 1 to 2 litres. Small Form Factor around 7 to 10 litres. A full sized tower perhaps 40 to 50 litres.

So, depending on what you have now, even a Small Form Factor may be acceptable to you. That will give you more choice and better value.

If you could tell us the model number on the back of your tower, that would be helpful towards that end.

Reuse your existing monitor and/or utilise your TV. You can even have both connected at the same time.

Wireless keyboard(or at least a wired keyboard with extension) in conjunction with TV is a comfortable solution.

I was responding to the original poster. No budget was stated in his post.

My wide-screen was 8,000 Baht.

OP didn't mention a budget until his fourth post on Page 1. Easy to miss, especially when most people barely even read the first post of any thread, let alone any subsequent posts. 😊

Most people have a TV anyway, so OP can just focus the budget on the PC itself.

Another thing worthy of consideration, being if you still have and utilise optical disc drives. My Mini PC has a built in optical disc drive. Useful, as I have home video and photos stored on CD/DVD. Not essential, as you can buy an external drive. But still, nice to have. Good value, at 3000 baht all in.

When using a small mini PC, it’s recommended to connect USB devices through a powered USB hub, especially if they draw a lot of current. This prevents overloading the mini PC’s USB ports.

Models with the latest high-end components are especially worth checking carefully, because they may push the limits of cooling and power delivery.

Computer shuts down app every two days, sometimes on occasion twice a day, though never goes off when I'm not using it, internet goes off about twice a week, so I have to fiddle with a thingy in the back of the Tower to get it back on, besides it takes up too much room. I was thinking about a Mini PC.

Going back to this original reply. This happens, along with a black screen and freezing, mainly from corrupt files, a weak or failing power supply , a failing graphics card, overheating, outdated drivers or insufficient Ram.

You can first try that DISM to ensure it has what it needs to fix possibly corrupted files, and then scannow to fix them. You can also check Ram and update drivers yourself. Loud or constant fan sound can be overheating.

Seeing you want another computer soon, you won't need to worry about the graphics card or power supply, and just use this computer until you replace it.

Budget 6 to 8000 Baht. I cannot get into Shopee, I have tried many times over the years. I have been recommended to get a Beelink EQ 13 PRO which is around 5000 Baht from Lazada, who are always a last resort for me.

These are $640 ................... but many fakes that don't work on sale cheaper.

How often do you watch your 10 TB of movies.

I have an apk app which allows me to stream and view ALL TV shows, movies, live sports etc. No need to save anything unless I want to.

If/when your internet goes down then you have nothing to watch

It's very often glitchy and buffering.

You also have to contend with movies or TV shows suddenly being removed from streaming sites due to wokery , political correctness and censorship.

If you keep stuff on a NAS server and stream it with a jellyfin server

you have full control over your collection no glitchy buffering

no monthly fees no spyware malware or addware.

Mine isn't glitchy or buffering. AIS 1Gb/s very rarely goes down, in which case, if I am absolutely desperate to watch something, I can use my phone, which actually is a better picture than my 4k monitors. Or I go out for a walk/bike ride/Makro trip, and listen to radio on my phone.

My ZOO TV app costs 30 quid a year.

One which gets its power from a plug-in or charger, as opposed to getting it from the PC it is connected to. Mini PCs like mine, with built in power supply need one
