it was at bangkok phuket.

for any women reading this, there is a very good ob gyn at Mission called Dr Kitti. a young doctor with a great bedside manner. i have spoken to a few western women on the island who go to him. hes wonderful. but the surgical equipment in mission is not very advanced, so i dont advise having surgery there.

in fact, i spoke with the famous Dr Wattana this week who told me that Vachira has the best equipment on the island and that they will soon be shooting for the foreign market. may be well worth looking at.

I agree.

Vachira is trying hard and already knocks BP for medical effort although the floors aren't so pretty!

So unless you like sitting in nice chairs and looking at the floor go not to BP.

I've tried the Mission, but was astonished at the crowd in the waiting area, not even enough seats. I exited quickly and went to the Phuket International. The Vichira is even worse.

As a private paying customer (here in Thailand) I expect polite & reasonably quick attention. If I wanted to wait in a long queue I would use the free NHS back in the UK.

We got to BP and to be honest I'm really pleased with them, the doctors are great and the prices haven't changed visibly, in fact it was cheaper for my wife to get her recent emergency c-section and hospital stay etc... than it was when we had our last baby 2 years ago.

As with any hospital in the world, its about getting Doctors that you are happy with.

Had an MRI at BP. Took it to BKK for second and third opinions. They said MRI at BP were lousy and worthless, the radiologist having used the wrong technique and improper slicing. Price of MRI at BP (old machine) was more expensive than prices at Bumrungrad or the MRI center out on Ngam Wong Wan (both much newer machines).

BP, great staff, sweet smiling, nice hand-holding docs too, nice fuzzy warm feeling. Brand new building, old MRI machine, top prices. Pick and choose, I guess. It's not all bad.

see, i found the doctors at bangkok phuket to be quite cold and not particularly nice at all.

Hear ,hear and rude in to the bargain; we had a meet with one and my wife and I were waiting in the visitors area. This guy walks up, says hallo to me but completely ignored my wife.

Another experience at BP hospital with mixed results. A great ENT doctor who really knows her stuff, efficient and a good people person. A fairly lackluster Neurologist who seemed he-l bent on selling me an MRI scan and a cardiologist who is from another planet - great attempts at people skills but his specialist knowledge and knowledge of current events in the field of pharmaceuticals left me wanting. It really does all come down to the doctor you chose or get landed with. BTW, tried emailing the Director with a complaint about an experience there some months ago and was completely ignored.

Should report that despite a few problems in the past.. I had emergency treatment last week in International by big C..

Had a collar bone pinned back together, every single part of the process could not have gone better.. From initial check in and immediate consult and exam, to literally minutes later a super professional and capable doc giving me options, decision to pin / operate.. Minutes later a set of forms.. almost immediate admittance to surgery.. private clean room to recover in.. Professional docs and very caring and friendly / cheerful nurses. Lastly at a very reasonable price (yes I am an idiot and didnt have insurance AGAIN !!)..

I had to go back for a check up and on arrival, desk nurse took my info, made a call and the orthopaedic surgeon was called down and there before I had found my chair.

I am not easily impressed and am certainly not going to make my hospital choices based on if its decor is pleasant. For simple stuff like bones / accidents I would not look elsewhere..

Ohh I once again spent 10 mins in Patong hospital prior to going over there and once again wonder why I bother..
