British Man Arrested After Disturbance in Phuket

A 24-year-old British man has been arrested after allegedly causing a second public disturbance in Phuket’s Chalong area within two days. Police said the latest incident took place at about 12:00 on 2 June 2026 in Soi Ta-iad, a popular fitness and Muay Thai training district in Mueang Phuket district.

Officers responded after receiving reports from members of the public that a foreign man appeared heavily intoxicated, was speaking incoherently and causing a nuisance in the area. A patrol team led by Sub-Lieutenant Bandit Khamkaew arrived and found the man displaying signs of intoxication and behaving erratically.

According to police, officers attempted to search the man, but he allegedly resisted and tried to flee. Police detained him, citing concerns that his behaviour could pose a risk to residents and visitors nearby and took him to Chalong Police Station for further investigation.

Authorities later confirmed he was the same individual involved in a separate incident on 1 June. During that earlier event, police said the man, identified only as Mr Brown, was found sitting outside a house in Soi Ta-iad after allegedly banging on a resident’s door and attempting to take a raincoat and motorcycle helmet left outside the property.

The homeowner reported feeling frightened and concerned for the safety of their family and belongings. Officers who attended the scene found that Mr Brown held valid identification and immigration documents and had travelled to Phuket to study Muay Thai.

Police said he was able to communicate clearly during questioning and claimed his actions were intended as a prank. As the homeowner decided not to file a complaint, officers issued a warning and escorted him back to his accommodation.

Following the second disturbance, police charged Mr Brown with becoming intoxicated and behaving disorderly in a public place. He was handed over to investigators at Chalong Police Station for legal proceedings.

Khaosod reported that the case highlights police concerns about public safety in busy tourist and training areas. Authorities have urged members of the public to report individuals whose behaviour causes disturbances or may present a danger to the community.

He's lying flat-out on his back again in the road, just like the last time... Hardly normal behaviour. As a completely-unqualified doctor, I diagnose that he is either an alcoholic or what is known

The police gave him a second chance, and he used it to get properly charged. You have to admire the commitment.

What on earth is wrong in Benidorm these days that they are coming here?

Looks like the Spanish are protesting about the bad behaviour, making tourists feel unwelcome. Early closures on nightlife too (especially around Magaluf). Thailand lets anyone in. There's also the marijuana that is attracting the council estate chavs in the bucket loads.

As a completely-unqualified doctor, I diagnose that he is either an alcoholic or what is known in the medical profession as a 'complete loony' (I know this from experience with my ex-wife...).

Either way. he needs to be deported without delay!

....and I was already on the way to apologize having blamed (some) Brits to be rude, showing inappropriate behaviour or being not to be the brightest candle.

And now this one.

I'm heart broken 💔

Please, don't come to Thailand if you can't behave.

Deport him back to UK, let NHS take care of him.

Maybe Brits, Aussies, Russians, Indians and Americans should be given a phycology check before visas to enter approved.

Not from Trump's doctor please.

So he IS a Brit! We were all thrown-off by his lack of tattoos in the earlier news story.

I think that, rather than being on drugs, his behavior is indicative that he is OFF of his meds.

Whenever a foreigner is in the news for bad behavior, I count the number of posts before we get a "Deportation!" demand. It took 6 posts today. By the way, you are part of a growing problem, because Thai people / authorities have few resources to "understand" how Foreigners think. If I were immigration / police ... I could easily bring in hundreds of "Deportation Demands" like yours and say ... "The foreigners feel that this is what we should do, for even the most minor offense." Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it someday!

I only get deported for using my ham radio equipment..... I don't drink, don't smoke, don't have a crazy girlfriend, and above all - I am not a loony.........

Therefore, the likelyhood of me 'getting it' is fairly remote :)

Have you read the new drone rules? Not that you have a drone, but the penalties they list for unsanctioned radio equipment (like drone remote controllers) are stiff. You may wish they'd deport you... That would be better than years of fish head soup.

Wow,don't mess with the Thai constabulary! A flying kick followed by a couple more when he was down!

I know Chonburi immigration has gotten better. I remember when you had to stand in the queue hoping the fan blows your way. Then rushing inside and seeing the chaotic atmosphere.

We all know some foreigners do Not understand how things work and cause problems at Immigration.

Always wondered how the Thai Immigration officials coup. Have they built up a mental wall to block most of the nonsense. Seek professional counseling or drink.

They looked like low level attempts just to stop and control the situation.

In US you would be flopping around like a fish from the Taser or have a knee on the back of your throat and back.

I have a licence for my ham radio gear in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. There are more than 140,000 radio amateurs in Thailand, so I'm unlikely to get deported :)

we all, clearly, need help getting this piece of garbage out of the country!! Police said he was able to communicate clearly during questioning and claimed his actions were intended as a prank. Just another narcissist yobo lookig for attention. Too dumb to know he is in a foreign country and not in a nanny state. A short stay in a Thai holding cell will do him a world of good.

By no means. If you do not have the appropriate station licence, transmitter licence(s), and operators' licence, you too could be criminalised. Not to mention import permits for equipment, and all duty paid. Although, a hefty fine is more likely.

officers attempted to search the man,

What were they looking for, since he wasn't wearing much clothing he can't have been concealing much than he came into the world with.

Orange short shorts guy ends up being a Brit? In the other thread a bunch had him pegged as a Scando.

Thai bargirl " you drink too muttt".

What a drunk.......

More likely chrystal meth (ya baa), or cocaine, heroin and alcohol. Marijuana alone induces calm, not aggression.

Yes, I too have lived in Thailand for 15 years, and in a very, very drama free way. That being said, I think you have missed the point, unless ... you are a person whose entire life view is ... "It's all about ME" Do you really want to live walking on eggshells because instead of litigation, negotiation, etc ... we foreigners train Thais to just black stamp our passports and send us packing? Oh! Did I forget to mention that your bank accounts will probably frozen and you will have to work that out from your home country? Thanks for reading that ... now hurry back to your "All About ME Bubble"
