Advice, Suggestions

Hello,

Please forgive me if I am asking a redundant question, or if this is not the correct area. I have just joined this forum. I will be travelling to Thailand in a few months, and I had a few questions regarding transportation.

1. If I am coming on the train from KL, is it possible to stop in Koh Samui?

2. How far up does the train go from KL, is it possible to go to Chang Mai?

3. Is there any way, short of flying, to get to southern India (Trivandrum, Kovalam, or Chennai) from Thailand (boat/ferry/rail)?

Again, I apologize if the answer to these questions are obvious...this is going to be my first time in Asia.

Thank you for you help and advice,

Yoner

Welcome to Thaivisa

1 The Langkawi express goes from KL to Had Yai Thailand daily. At Had Yai u need to get another train to Phun Phin which is about 12 miles from Surathani. Follow the crowds from there to Samui Island by road and ferry

2 To get a train to Chiang Mai you need to go to Bangkok [ or Bang Sue Junction ]

3 No - better to try in Malaysia for a boat to India

Have a look at www.seat61.com for train info. There are other trains[ short distance mainly] running that are not listed on websites

Thailand is 1 hour behind Malaysia
