Parking Suvanabhum

Featured Replies

Planning a trip to Bangkok (driving) in a couple of weeks, staying in the city for a few days and thinking of parking my car at Suvanabhum airport. Used to do it about 5 years before and a good option for me, around 250 baht a day and jump on the Skytrain into the city. Just wondering has anyone parked there lately. Probably mid week for me. I remember last time I went I got a parking spot but it was only just....there were cars double parked, Real mess. Wondering how you would get your car out in that situation. Been caught for over an hour a couple of times at concerts, malls where I left early and the brain dead numpty who parked me in obviously assumed whoever he jammed up would be staying until the end. I know a lot of the time they leave their handbrake off but not always and you simply push the car out the way. Anyone been there lately?

Yes, a couple of months ago, we were running late due to traffic and couldn't find the long stay car park so ended up in one close to the airport and as you say it was packed, no free spaces.

I tried double parking but if I left my handbrake off I couldn't lock the door.....

Parked at the end of the row in the end without double parking but I was worried someone would hit the car as space was tight.

I did contact an off airport place initially but the cost was about the same as the long stay park but worth considering.

Thanks for the reply mate. Probably a stupid question really depends on the day and time you get there I guess. Is the long term car park far away? I am guessing its not undercover

There is a commuter parking lot opposite Lad Krabang Airport link station. You can see it on Google maps. Unattended though. You might find a shady/covered spot.

There is also a small one at Hua Mak airport link station.

It can be busy, especially around holiday times. But I normally find if you go down a couple of floors you'll find a space. Or go up to the very top as they have extended that.

A bit cheeky but...

Have lunch here https://maps.app.goo.gl/Gw9GN74S9e8LBDuG7

then ask nicely if you can leave your car for a couple of days while you go downtown. The lady there speaks English. Lots of space.

Then get a Grab/taxi to your hotel.

It's partially covered and can't be more than a few minutes in the bus.....when it comes of course. Anyway, it's here......PQ38+4JF Nong Prue, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan

I don't know I didn't find it, I passed one park then came to another soon after and asked the 2 attendants stood around for long stay and they pointed to the second one nearby, I was running out of time so parked there but the price wasn't long stay prices.

Interesting that you can’t lock the door without handbrakes. What car is it?

Did it last November. Used the parking area next to the departure/arrival building. Couldn't find a parking slot but found a gap to double park. Was picking someone up and was a bit late so didn't drive around the whole place, just took the first avaliable spot. Was only going to be there a few minutes so wasn't too concerned with double parking.

There is practically unlimited long-term parking at this lot - and the only real limit is what's covered and what's close to the (electric) bus stop. The bus comes every 15 minutes and is about 5-6 min to the terminal and 6-10 minutes back to the lot. If you don't mind paying more, the short-term lot (Zone 4) on the ground level is rarely full-full and there's always the ability to double park and leave your handbrake off. Uncovered of course. All is explained here: All parking zones at Suvarnabhumi Airport

The rate in the garage connected to the terminal building is still 250 baht per day (and now you can pay by QR instead of just cash). Yes, it can get quite crowded, but we have never failed to get a real spot (not double parked) if we spend enough time going down to the lower floors to find one. Sometimes it takes two minutes, and sometimes 15 minutes 🤷

If I'm planning a few days in Bangkok, I book a hotel with parking. The car stays there. Taxis, tuk-tuks, and other forms of public transport are sufficient for visiting other places in BKK.

Oooo....thanks for that....will investigate.

My other thought was to drive to Saraburi and catch a coach from there.

It can be done on most models by disabling the parking brake and putting it in neutral, using the shift release button if required, so if this particular one can't then I would say design flaw.
