Visa rate calculator

Featured Replies

Anyone having trouble with the Visa exchange rate calculator the past couple of days? I keep getting an error message 'there was a problem '.

This is on both phone and computer, so the issue is probably with the site, but it will be nice to know.

Seems not to be working......

There are a few VISA web sites that give the exchange rates. I just used this one without problem.

https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html

The problem could also be the DNS server that your ISP is using.

PS... I didn't actually try to do a conversion... when I did I got the same error... ignore what I said above. I tried a few different currencies and using different dates.... same error.

You could try XE converter, that's usually reliable.

Yes, I've been getting the same error message (and still am at the time of typing this). I took this issue up with Visa's Consumer Support by email yesterday, and following is their reply:

Hello OJAS,

Thank you for contacting Visa.

I apologise for any inconvenience.

We confirm that a temporary technical incident is currently affecting the Visa Exchange Rate Calculator. This issue may impact the calculator’s ability to convert exchange rates.

Our technical teams are fully mobilized to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. No action is required from you at this time.

Once the service is restored, you will be able to access the Exchange Rate Calculator normally. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience. Our customer service team remains at your disposal should you need any additional information.

Yes, that's the one I use. But, in the case of Visa conversions, account needs to be taken of your card issuer's charges (2.75% in my case).

Thanks everyone.

I contacted Visa too and got the same reply reproduced above. So we just have to wait now.

As for using XE or another site - no, Visa has its own rates. Sometimes there is a big difference, especially if you are withdrawing several thousand dollars worth.

Besides, I just want to know exactly what my dollar is worth.

I use XE to get a general idea, that's it.

Looks like it's working now.
