creatine authenticity sold on shopee

Featured Replies

Creatine is a supplement that is good for muscle, bone and brain health. I bought some from shopee and then (later) asked a chat ai if the product was genuine. The chat described what it looks like and basically just said that i should buy from a reputable supplier. So, rely on the supplier and registration.

Apparently the Thai Government has got Lazada and Shopee to agree to remove counterfeit or false products. Is this true?

I have also bought some just now, Dr Pong brand, and it looks like the real thing and there are lots of reference numbers etc. on the box. It is a bit more costly but it is clearly genuine and made in Thailand.

However, I had earlier bought some 'Oz Molts' brand, which is in a box identical to 'ON' brand, and the texture etc. seems ok but all the labels are fakey. 'Good Choice', 'GMP' etc. labels all mean nothing. These products do not appear to have been approved by any Thai health authorities.

The chat thing said that as creatine is cheap to make perhaps it is the real thing in a box that is copied. If I could figure out if the contents are real that would be great.

Last thing, I'd like to return the ozmolts brand to shopee as the box is a copy of the ON brand but the return time has expired.

Any comments? 🙏

PS There are a huge number of listings for what seems to be a false product. There is no Thai registration number or other references such as appear on the (genuine) Dr Pong brand. This is a health product consumed by athletes and others, sometimes in large quantities. And it is costly. If it is false, how to report it / them and have them removed?

How to tell if creatine is fake

Here are the most reliable signs:

  • Clumps hard (real creatine clumps lightly but breaks easily)

  • Smells strange (real creatine is odorless)

  • Tastes sweet or salty (real creatine tastes neutral, slightly bitter)

  • Dissolves too easily (real creatine dissolves slowly)

  • No batch number or expiry date

  • Suspiciously cheap price (under ฿300 for 300g is a red flag) AI

  • Real creatine monohydrate is:

    • fine white powder

    • slightly gritty

    • neutral smell

    • slow to dissolve

    • Why fake creatine exists in Thailand

      Because creatine is:

      • high demand

      • easy to fake

      • profitable for small sellers on Shopee/Lazada

This is why you should only buy from Mall sellers or physical supplement stores.

  • Recommend safe creatine Thailand

Best takeaway: The safest creatine you can buy in Thailand—with the lowest risk of fakes—is Creapure®, Optimum Nutrition (ON), and MyProtein purchased from official stores only (Nutrition Depot, Shopee Mall, Lazada Mall). Below is a clear, structured recommendation tailored for Thailand.

🏆 Top 3 safest creatine options in Thailand (zero fake risk)

    1) Creapure Creatine Monohydrate

    Why it’s safest:

    • Made in Germany under pharmaceutical‑grade purity

    • Every batch tested

    • Zero contamination risk

    • Most recommended by sports physicians

    Where to buy safely:

    • Nutrition Depot Thailand (physical stores)

    • Shopee Mall – Creapure official distributors

    • Lazada Mall – verified sellers

Price in Thailand: ฿850–฿1,200 for 250–300g (AI)

  • 2) Optimum Nutrition Micronized Creatine

I only buy Now Foods supplements, as 3rd party tested, and contain what's on the label.

I use the same one you have on the image (Black/Green can) and I have been wondering if it's real or not. so I stopped taking it.

Lazada is full of fakes, it's just mind blowing the amount of fake products sold there, Blatantly thievery!!!

I stopped ordering from lazada after I got a few fakes and Lazada rejected my claim to return.

Now only buy in iHerb which is more expensive but it's garanteed to be real. F U Lazada!

Forget about "Mall" sellers, they are the same and full of fakes. Now a days LazMall sellers are not vetted anymore.

I got a fake collangen type 2 from a Lazmall Seller and Lazada didnt accept my refund. the bottle was certainly fake because I was lucky to have kept the bottle from the same one I got before original.

I could tell how the expiry date was print:

- The fake had a long expiry date and was in the label.

- The real one had it print on the bottom of the bottle a shorter expiry date.

Real manufacturers almost never pre-print variable data onto label stock because batch scheduling shifts dynamically. They print on the bottle.

The US infamously does not do quality control for supplements before they are on the shelf for sale and then only if they receive a complaint about the product. So unless there is some sort of certificate showing proof of some sort of testing is would seem that all the stuff from the US must be suspect. I specifically search for non US supplements, vitamins, minerals etc..

The Ozmolts warning from the Philippines was because the supplier did not provide a certificate of authenticity. What about the 'ON' brand? Were they asked? Why was ozmolts singled out there and why no comment from the Thai government health authorities?

There is a photo of the Dr Pong brand label that I suppose is what should be on every label.

I understand about the Creapure German certificate. Are there others? D Peter suggested that ON brand, but it has all the US ID flagging which, in my opinion, should be a red flag for wild west type marketing. The US system seem to be 'I'll do what I want and pay the consequences later...If I get caught.

Many products show contents of 60 capsules, 2 months supply? following receipt, fine print on the back shows 'serving size' of 2 = 30 days = 100% cost increase to what was imagined.

I have confidence in the quality and honesty of Thai brands such as Vistra and Dr. Pong. Dr Pong creatine is on offer during the usual special sales days at shopee and lazada, btw.

My 300g creatine order from Dr Pong went from 405 baht to 338 baht delivered on a sale day. I am confident that this product is authentic.

So, is the Thai government committed to removing false products from these sites? Is it that they must demand a certificate of authenticity from the supplier? How can we report a possible dangerous suspect counterfeit product?

Any ideas about returning 3 boxes of Ozmolts copies of ON to shopee or how to authenticate by method other than no taste no smell?

This is one of many new(ish) vids about creatine and the many benefits beyond muscle building (not only weight loss). Really good stuff. 555🙏 (Canadian 🍁doctor)

The printing on the Dr Pong label is a bit odd as it is google translate copy and paste, btw.

Yes. It was my fault for buying supplements in Lazada. Good for you never happened to you. 👏

Anyone found a trusted supplier of supplements on Lazada?

If cheaper than iHerb when on sale, then that's a red flag it's fake.

Shopee vendor ... From my post above, if a NOW Foods fan, then that supplier can be trusted. I've compared bottles & labels, and all looks the same. Though I've only gotten a few things from there. All they sell is NOW Foods supplements, which are 3rd party tested.

Creatine is a very cheap substance, so faking it would likely make little business sense.

Still, your left green/black canister was very clearly made to be confused with Optimum Nutrition Micronized Creatine (which is not a cheap creatine powder, compared to others).

For that reason alone I would be weary and not buy it.

The creatine order that I would like to return is past its return date. I have not had a problem returning items within the time frame but as this is clearly a copy of another product I was hoping for some bright ideas...555.

It appears that both shopee and lazada withold payment to suppliers until the item is delivered, if prepaid, to pass on the money to the supplier.

Noting that a product is counterfeit normally brings a quick refund. A shirt with a fake label is one thing but for products meant to be ingested it is impossible to know about authenticity and could be very dangerous.

On shopee there are dozens of listings for various creatine products with 'Made in a Clean Factory', or 'Grass Fed' as their authentication. I only have the Ozmolts in hand but it appears to be an identical label to the much touted ON brand.

So, creatine does not completely dissolve. The Dr Pong brand has lots of information on the label and has a very slightly 'crunchy' feeling of undissolved crystals. The ozmolts has zero information on the label is like smooth water when consumed, no crunch.

Any thoughts on getting my money back from shopee for this counterfeit product?

I have just ordered MATELL Micronized Creatine 300 G.

เลข อย. FDA Registration No.40-1-18263-5-0021

I will post my comments on this product.

But what about all the other supplements? These can be very powerful products and essential ones too. Taking a fake supplement can be harmful from the product itself but also will not make up a vitamin, mineral or other deficiency in our bodies need. How to know if B12 is real or other less obvious supplements?

3rd party testing is what counts, and they score high in that regard. USA FDA is a farce IMHO, and self serving to who ever pays them.

I don't do high end or specialty supplements, so here are the ones that I'd even consider for basic supplementing, from G AI:

My wife and I take 20g (each) of this product every day so price is a consideration🎶🙏

FITWHEY is a reliable brand for creatine and other supplements as well the most decent priced one on lazada. Current have 300 grams for 542 baht bags. Don't waste your money on over priced branded creatine.

Also there is not really a business in 'fake creatine'. neither there is 'better creatine'. Most of it is produced in Germany or USA originally. It is like asking which sugar brand is better except that this is not bad like sugar is.

And if you are new with a brand or product you obviously start with smaller amounts to see first. Reviews tell enough too.

There are many institutions and countries distancing themselves from the USA these days. Here is an interesting Canadian site commenting from a Canadian (Danish) point of view. (House of EL there is also one House of EL AI) The US has passed a law the 'Cloud Act' which requires all US companies to hand over customer data to the US government no matter where the data is stored or who the customer is...Worldwide.🙏

I bought Oz molts pre workout on Lazada and it was good so I ordered some more week or so later but from different seller as was bit cheaper. The seller name was Oz something so I didn't realise it was not same group which is the manufacturer that I ordered first lot from. I put it in water and it went a weird colour a had lots of small clumps that wouldn't dissolve, contacted the company and they said it was fine it was just something that happens in making process now and again. It didn't work and tasted off compared to original and it wasn't from moisture getting in the item as it was dry and sealed when opened.

Now as before I only buy from the actual companies that make the product , from vitamins , carnatine or workout powder. Stick to that rule and you shouldn't have a problem , it's a case of you get what you pay for and if it's cheap it's usually for the reason it's too good to be true .

confused about creatine authenticity. I just double checked the description of the (Green Box) ozmolts creatine that I purchased from 'Ozmolts healthy store' on shopee.

'Gluten Free, GMO Free, Vegan. Shelf Life 36 Months. Ingredient Preference: Creatine, Creatine Monohydrate. Nutrient Type: Creatine, Creatine Monohydrate. FDA Registration No. 10-3-37067-5-0002. Advertisement License No. ฆอ.A-75'

This stuff is not the same as Dr pong product and the FDA number does not appear on the box. The QR code on the celophane wrapper simply repeats stock number printed below it. There is nothing other than claims of quality and benefits on the label stuck onto the green box product with a protective celophane wrapper where the qr code is stuck.

Dr. Pong product has FDA number and address of the manufacturer here in Thailand printed onto the good quality label that is firmly stuck onto the container. (I have done nothing to follow up on any of this information, taking it at face value...555)

I think I understand about creatine but questions about this products makes me concerned about other suppliments on sale here in Thailand. US FDA is out and I do not know if the Thai FDA takes any interest in the qualty of these supplements.

Only trusting a German quality control service could get awfully expensive if applied to all these vitamins, minerals and supplements that are good to take.

I will be looking for the 'Made in Thailand' note for all future purchases.🙏

Look at the video posted above. My interest is in the brain element.🙏

btw, you will see that a 'normal' dose of creatine suppliment is 5g. We put 20g in our water bottles and sip it during the day. does not interfere with sleep (apparently promotes it). Muscles gobble up the first 5g and then the skeleton is next in line and what is left over goes to the brain and nervous system. So it is said...555🍁🙏

Just recieved the Matell creatine. It is made in Thailand, has the FDA number printed on the label and has the expiration date stamped onto the exposed bottom of the container.

300g B228, delivered.

It is white, does not desolve (sort of suspended and settles) and has the very slightly crunchy feeling on the teeth which i suppose is/are the undesolved crystals.

This is a great supplement (if all is true) beyond muscles and there are lots of current videos about it on YT now. 🙏

I was burned once, buying a popular brand multivitamin from Shoppee.

Once is enough.

I will not buy again.

But, that will not affect Shoppee.

There is a Shoppee Sucker born every minute.

There is always fresh meat.

Buy from Amazon and you will get a far better customer service experience, even though even Amazon today is not as good as it once was.

Just stay away from the two online shopping platforms popular here.

If you don't want to get burned.

Better to buy from a local retailer, if possible.
