This comes up.

Thinking best option is to wait the 3 months after obtaining extension.

Already open a new bank account during that time.

When the 400k window opens transfer 400k from existing account into account with new bank.

This ensures funds never below 400k

Realize you are aware of that by what you posted.

Posting for others as my guess is some folk will boot BBL.

BTW: if anyone does this and at some point shuts the account keep the bank book.

I surrendered mine and CW imm were very unhappy even though I obtained bank statement.

I’m considering changing banks for the 800k method. Question is, upon doing the next extension, then I will need bank statements and letters from both banks for the period since the last extension, correct?

Bangkok Bank continues their ridiculous policy which make no sense. For those using the 800k in a Thai bank they insist it be in the account 4 months in advance (Immigration only requires 2 months).

Money in bank method: ... 800k in bank for 2 months prior to application for extension and maintained for 3 months after extension and not below 400k in remaining months. The stunt BBL is pulling on

Once the four month period passes the Bangkok Bank will unlock the funds and it will be in your available balance to be used. As Dr Jack said it has nothing to do with immigrations and is a Bangkok

Yes bank statement + bank letter for both accounts.

Note if you close an account make sure you keep the cancelled bb

Open any new account first.
Then transfer the funds from existing account to new account, which ensures the 800K has been maintained in a Thai bank.

Yes, statements and letters for both accounts may be required.

Wouldn't OP technically be on overstay on a day when his bank balance dropped under 400k?

I know no one is going to check that if he just leaves the country, but if he tries to apply for a new extension next year, could he face maximum overstay fine from immigration?

Technically, yes. The moment they failed to meet the requirements of their extension that extension becomes invalid. I've never heard of anyone actually penalized in this way, but I have heard of people threatened with it by immigration when they tried to complain about being denied the extension.

Bob, from your first post which stated you applied for a new Non O visa (which would only grant a stay of 90 days), it's assumed you actually applied for a 1 year extension of stay based on retirement, which requires 800K in a Thai bank for 2 months prior to submitting the application.

The freezing of the 800K is a Bangkok bank policy, if said 800K wasn't in the account for 4 months prior to requesting the account verification letter, and nothing to do with Immigration.

Immigrations financial requirements for a 1 year extension of stay are as follows.

Using the 800K funds method section 4 is applicable.

Order 35-2561 (2019) Retirement 2.22.png

Once the extension has been granted, you must maintain the balance of 800K for 3 months thereafter.
You may then withdraw funds, but the remaining balance must not fall below 400K for the remaining 7 months.

You've made a withdrawal and state the remaining balance is now 397,123 BHT, which is less than 400K.

Next year when applying for a further 1 year extension you will be required to provide a 1 year bank statement providing evidence of;
a) A balance of 800K for 2 months prior to the date of submitting that application.
b) That you complied with the continuing financial requirements after your current extension was approved. (800K for 3 months, 400K remaining months).

As you haven't complied, by withdrawing an amount allowing the balance to drop below 400K, your next extension application will be refused and you'll probably have to start the whole procedure again by leaving Thailand and re-entering with a new Non O 90 day visa.

Thanks for such a detailed reply and explanation.

I never stay in country for more than 25-30 days so dont need to make 90 report.

for my 1st one year renewal sometime next April i will use another agent and another bank.

i believe it will be ok, provided i pay for some Tea

Your thread is absolute nonsense.

1 many folk don't need to do 90 report due to travel abroad.

My first 7 years never did one for that reason.

2 more importantly you didn't mention that you use an agent.

Which means maintaining financial compliance redundant.

What are you asking.

Thread closed. Seems OP is using agent to cover financial requirements. Vague misleading thread.
