Recent Experiences at Chaengwattana for Residency Certificate?

Featured Replies

Has anybody recently gotten a residency certificate at Chaengwattana? I read somewhere they will no longer mail it and I must make a second trip to pick it up? Is there any expedited service available? Any agents to recommend to avoid the hassle? I have all required documents. Thanks.

Correct they no longer mail out the COR.

Thinking agent could at very least arrange pick up.

@ThaiVisaCentre may have advice of service

Thanks. I best not go down the rabbit hole of trying to understand the need for it or the absurd process of obtaining it. :)

I had not seen any info about this change--which is a big one--till just now. CW's no longer mailing the COR to you? (Which they did for a fee of 200 baht.)

So how does one get the COR in their hands?

And now CORs issued at CW will become (or already have been, I don't know) another one of the services agents provide? Wonder what the fee will be for that?

You are correct. No reason the COR should not be issued at the time one applies to get it.

Tod Daniels pick up my error recently.

Here is cut/paste of that post from Tod.....

The COR from CW is 200b and is mailed to you. Process takes about 5 days (they state allow two weeks)

That is 100% NOT correct any longer at Chaengwattana immigrations ☹️

Now the service is FREE, but it requires TWO visits to C/W, one to apply, and one a week later to get the COR

you apply, get a receipt paper that shows you return in 7 days and when you do you just show the receipt and they give you the COR"

Thanks. Wow...from back in March. I was 'in the dark'.

Another variation on the 'if it wasn't broke, why fix it?' I'd sure prefer the fee and having it mailed to me than a second traipse back out there for pickup. Plus, it had to be a bit of an income generator for the office, a bit of 'mad money' for them.

Does anyone know if I need to go in person to pick up the CoR, or can I give the recipt to my wife and get her to pick it up?

Should be fine.

Overkill but suggest you write short statement regards her picking it up (signed) also she have copy of her ID along with receipt may as well take your pp.

I like "pack the kitchen sink" approach.

Good advice.

Thanks Dr Jack.

I asume that the COR is valid for 1 month, and the month starts when you pick it up, not when you apply. anyone applied with this new system?

The certificate will have issue date and valid for 30 days from that date.

One of the requirements is a completed TM-30 submission. I haven’t been out of Thailand for almost 2 years and my last TM-30 dates back to my last permission to stay renewal in October 2025.

Anyone have any idea how old the TM-30 can be for the residency certificate application process?

TM30 does not expire. You can run into issues if you've ever traveled anywhere inside of Thailand in the last 2 years and stayed at a hotel, who might have submitted a new TM30 for you. In that case you would want to submit a new one and get a copy of it before going to immigration.

Any problem in doing a new TM30.

I do a new TM30 for each annual extension

Does anyone have a link to or PDF of the application form? Thanks!

Thanks, as always. That’s what I’m thinking too. Do it to be on the safe side. It’s just a PITA to go ask my landlord again.

My agent always requests a fresh TM-30 at the time of my annual p-t-s renewal. I didn’t know if it was because the submission ages out or if the agent is just playing it safe.

Think its about playing it safe.

Previously I never provided TM30 for extension. Just provided lease and then bang one day CW asked for TM30.

I have never provided TM30 for COR.

Just showed current 90 report receipt.

Of course in public forum have to recommend a nice TM30 for the io.

Yes, you have to love Immigration. Constantly trying to turn a 100 meter sprint event into a 100 meter hurdles event, if not a full marathon. 😝

The trees we kill just to keep them happy.

It is a shame the ridiculous TM30 or the 90 day report is not accepted as proof of address. Oops, darn it, I'm going down the rabbit hole. I am sinking....

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think the form required for the application is TM.18

Available from Immigration website HERE:

https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=3159

The actual certificate is called a TM.16

  • This may or may not be the correct form and information. This is free advice and worth whatever price you paid for it. 😝

COR form CW and some other offices use.

https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=439173

Here is cut/paste from @Tod Daniels ....

"Don't even worry about the form you need to fill out.

Just go to the main immigration office out at the government complex building B on Chaengwattana Road. Go to the third floor that's where the TM 30, 90 day report, and certificate of residence room is.

Have your tm30, have your lease, data page of your passport, copy of your evisa, most recent entry stamp.

They'll give you the form to fill out while you're standing there and you'll have plenty of time while you wait in the queue.

The COR is free and when you apply they will give you a receipt that says come back in one week to pick up the certificate"

I have an off-the-wall question: For what purpose does an expat need a residency certificate which lasts only 30 days?

I presume my Thai pink card and yellow book do that.

I never got into the TM30 system and so far no IO has asked for it.

In the main TDL.

Also with exchange of motor vehicles etc.

Open bank account.

Previously Pink ID card was also an option for TDL however more often in recent times a, COR is required.

Note: COR is single use. A photocopy if for example two different purposes such as TDL and open bank account you would need two COR.

One exception is renewing Car and Bike liciences at same time
