Recent Experiences at Chaengwattana for Residency Certificate?

Ageny fees for getting the COR from the few I have checked seem to run from 2000 baht to 4500 baht. I understand that a few folks are feeding from that trough, but that does seem a bit high. I have to decide what my time and avoiding the experience are worth.

I am buying a new motorcycle and, sadly, my old work permit with the address in it had to be replaced last year because there was no more space in it. Ahhh, the good old days!

Thanks. Wow...from back in March. I was 'in the dark'. Another variation on the 'if it wasn't broke, why fix it?' I'd sure prefer the fee and having it mailed to me than a second traipse back out the

I had not seen any info about this change--which is a big one--till just now. CW's no longer mailing the COR to you? (Which they did for a fee of 200 baht.) So how does one get the COR in their hands

I was out at CW 9 June ( Nephew drove my car) to renew my yearly POS...

What is your yearly POS?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Permission of Stay.

Thank you.

I take it, therefore, that with POS, @Dickp meant what the form TM.7 calls "APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY STAY IN THE KINGDOM"

This was the first time that I saw POS used for this meaning.

Sorta.

Any entry to Thailand be that eg visa exempt entry or entry with a visa or reentry permit you are given a stamp that has a "until date" (Permitted to stay till that date)

Not directly related to TM7.

It is a shame the ridiculous TM30 or the 90 day report is not accepted as proof of address. Oops, darn it, I'm going down the rabbit hole. I am sinking....

It is an utter farce....as the CoR is based on the TM30......that you fill in.....555

Any problem in doing a new TM30.

I do a new TM30 for each annual extension

I have to ask. What is so special about a TM 30? I have lived in Thailand for the past 20 years + and have never seen one. I have been out of the country on a number of occasions and taken holidays within Thailand, but never asked for or been given a TM30.

The only time you may require a TM30 if you have dealings with immigration office.

Examples would be to obtain extension, COR, etc.

That would depend on you imm office.

As mentioned for my first several years CW did not ask for TM30 for my extensions then bang one year...

"Where is TM30"..... I have provided one each extension since.

By law, an aliens place of residence must be registered with their local Immigration office.
The form is known as a TM30.

I wish I had a baht for every expat that's informed me they have never heard of a TM30, yet there in the back of their passport is the stapled receipt.

I know it's law, it's a fact.

Know a lot, knows a lot of rot, comes to mind. For your information. I have a YELLOW BOOK. A copy is past to the Immigration officer when renewing my extension of stay with all the other info required. The YELLOW BOOK proves my address. Therefore a TM30 is not required. That information is direct from the horses mouth!

It helps to put the brain in gear, before engaging the mouth!

Let me educate you.

Section 38 of the Thai Immigration Act;

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager where the alien , receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed , must notify the competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned.

The form to notify Immigration of your place of residence in compliance of the Act, is the TM30 form.

If you moved to a new residential address, of what use would your Yellow book be?

TM30 is to register your residential address with Immigration under the Immigration Act.
Yellow book your residential address is registered with your local Amphur under the Civilian Registration Act.

I can explain it, but I can't make you understand it!

And pray tell how the Carlton Hotel on Overcliffe Drive Dorset UK, supplies a TM30?

If I stay in a hotel/Guest House in another province of Thailand, it is the responsibility of the hotel/guesthouse to inform their local immigration office, within 24 hours of my stay, NOT MINE. I will be returning to my permanent address, so why do I need a TM30?

The question is and how exactly did you notify Immigration when you first moved into what is now your permanent place of residence?

With a copy of my Yellow Book on the occasion the first 90 day report. A one year Visa was acquired from Hull in the UK, I left the UK with 2 days of receiving the Visa. I applied for the Yellow Book one week later and received it within 3 days of the application.

Which Immigration office?

Many IO's never enforced the requirement to file a TM30 20 years ago, but in recent times it's been enforced.

I've also had a Yellow book for years but I don't submit copies to Immigration as proof of address.

The requirement is a completed TM30, signed copies of the owners Tabien Baan and ID card for residential properties.

You, your wife, or landlord may have filed one unknowingly.
My last TM30 was filed 10 years ago when I moved into my current address.

I still have the receipt of notification in the back of my passport.

Nong Khia. Which was the nearest at that time. Now Khon Kaen, which it has been for the past 16/17 years.

My wife and I run a small hotel, which is her property, and was before I met her. She has no necessity to go to Immigration as I am on a retirement Visa. As to anyone else filing a TM30, very, every doubtful, I feel sure I would certainly know about it.

We have very little reason to notify Immigration of visitors, most of our clientele are Thai. Only on one occasion was it necessary, when a guy from the UK stayed for 3 months. My wife notified them on his arrival, and supplied the necessary forms for his further 30 days, which were granted. We haven't seen him for two years now. I'm not sure, but believe his income is not now up to three month holiday?

Gentlemen, both of you, give it a rest, let it go. Life is too short. Thanks.

Bickering post removed and several more should be.

Thread not directly about TM30, rather it concerns COR.

There are many things that TM30 will be required for.

Just ask anyone that has applied for 30 day extension.

Is it possible a TM30 would be required for COR. Answer Yes.

Is it possible not required (same office). Answer Yes.
