Again , the future is not human.

Lots of YT video's of robots .

Some very life like. (Chinese made)

Yet some insist of taking in "refugees" because of labor shortages.

All find the vast majority of their work from providing services to working and middle class customers.

Who’s going to pay for their services when their customers don’t have jobs?

got it. you know nothing of economics. thanks for confirming

Forgive me.

I overestimated you, I thought you might actually want to discuss the topic of the thread you’re posting under.

You can perhaps demonstrate your grip of economics by answering the question I asked.

you didnt ask a question, you spewed your usual nonsense based on fake assumptions

Ford Motors found out the hard way replacing humans with robots doesn't always world.

Per Google:

"Ford previously cut thousands of salaried roles and increased reliance on AI-powered cameras to perform factory inspections. However, executives admitted that the automation lacked the nuanced, real-world judgment of seasoned human engineers, leading to a spike in vehicle recalls and warranty costs."

The following is the question I asked and that you swerved:

“Who’s going to pay for their services when their customers don’t have jobs?”

Universal Basic Income (UBI) paid by continuing money printing (= just click "money" via CBDC/stablecoins).

Musk says no need to work anymore.

My understanding is robotics and AI has it strengths and weaknesses just like humans. The Ford Case sounds like a Suit in the office looking at a spec sheet, listening to a sales pitch but not consulting the workers or managers who could tell you all the reasons a human is needed for this task and robot can perform another task. There was probably no way to Test the robots ability without great expense or alerting the soon to be released workers.

AI and robotics has it's place. Understanding the problem, solution and most likely outcome from the changes is not easy sometimes.

AI is used as a resource to compliment someone analyzing tons of data and assembling the info in record time is invaluable. It struggles with understanding the possible outcomes when a task is completed a certain way or why a certain piece of equipment is better even though the spec sheet for one product is better

Pretty much, but from all the obviously AI-assisted comments increasingly being posted across many different threads on this forum, maybe teachers will need to start looking over their shoulders? A lot of very good educational and instructional materials are available online, posted by humanoids and AI-enhanced web searches make them easier to find.

Personally, I have deprived computer technicians and car mechanics of income by watching a few YouTubes and installing, replacing, repairing and servicing things by myself. I also deprive the computer shops and dealerships of work and income by buying the stuff I need online.

The Terminator is becoming a reality.

Something unsettling is happening with AI robot dogs - and experts are worried

Scientists and engineers developing AI-powered robot dogs are creating machines that appear increasingly autonomous, adaptive, and unpredictable. The deeper researchers push artificial intelligence into robotic systems, the more unsettling the technology begins to feel. Advanced movement, decision-making systems, and environmental awareness are allowing robot dogs to operate in ways that once seemed impossible. Some experts are now questioning how far autonomous robotics should evolve before the risks become difficult to control. And the rapid advancement of AI robot dogs is beginning to raise serious concerns about the future of intelligent machines.

But not in China.

I have a sneaky suspicion Musk gave away his plans for the western working/middle class when, as head of DOGE, he gutted US Aid.

Those foreigners living in poverty are of no value to his utilitarian view of life, he has absolutely no concern should they starve or die of disease, the same will be true of excess working/middle class workers in the west.

Unpredictable? What's going to be worse, a Bully or an AI robot Bully?

Many of these large tech and manufacturing companies might not have thought this all through too well, as if people end up don't having jobs in this rush for automation/robots/AI or can only survive on welfare etc., then who's going to buy all this stuff at the levels/prices they want so that their investors and shareholders are happy and making profits. The disparity/inequality between the haves and have nots is only going to increase and become more stark.

For example, look at the car industry and sales of new cars are plummeting, dealer lots are jammed full of cars losing money every month, banks aren't lending so easy, people are drowning in debt and so on... yes, Chinese EVs are selling for now but that too will soon be at saturation point as well. Many people have become far less frivolous and are putting off many types of purchases for all sorts of reasons, and not being confident about the future is certainly one of them.

after a while, tool costs become prohibitive. no $7.99 timing lights from kmart any more

won't AI be able to knock up a cyber version of Barbara Woodhouse "the terrierminator" that'll bring them to heel , Walkies !!

No different from when horses gave way to motor cars & trucks. Or when intercontinental travel from NZ & Oz to Mother England changed from 6 weeks by boat to a few hours in the air ...

Human beings have (because of their collective if not individual) intelligence the capability to adapt to quite extreme changes. it just takes some time and a little effort. In 20 years everyone will wonder what the alarm was about.

Vast majority are you kidding ? I hardly think the need for Health care, Education, Running water, Electricity, Housing, Roofing, Heating or Car repairs are unique to the middle classes The lower classes need all the above too so it can all be paid for by benefits can't it , Where does the money for benefits come from ? just like everybody else I genuinely don't know and until I claim my pension I don't really care

cant have ai without the folks listed

The auto industry has been using robots for over 30 years so the concept is nothing new. I think the wort worry is when they get robots to repair other robots.
