All out chaos - he instigated it by punching the first Indian, but the rest of it is just random people trying to land cheap shots (even with a stick) while getting decimated. Interestingly I actually passed that exact area around that time. Must have been right after it finished.

I know we often look at the old days, 20 + years ago through rose colored glasses but this kind of brawl that has now become commonplace, it seems almost nightly, was honestly very rare back then.

I can recall being amazed at how few altercations I would see considering the always combustible mixture of alcohol, women, men on the prial problem was the Englishotentwl and the wide mix of nationalities and cultures.

Once in a while somebody wouldn't want to pay a bar bill and get instant financial counselling or some idiot would try to secretly video inside a bar and watch his phone deconstruct against a wall but for the most part, people just seemed to move on from messy situations.

Meth was around then but not even close to the availability of now and the whole combat sports thing has brought in a new demographic of wanna-be tough guys. The digital nomad thing has also brought in a demographic of 30-40 somethings, not really playing Walking Street but fueling a much more aggressive bar scene and perhaps more personal relationship issues spilling into view.

A visible criminal element has obviously grown, built around cannabis but expanding in all sorts of directions. The Russians seem to be in their own little world. I've never had any kind of negative interaction with a Russian, they seem to concentrate on their own rivalries and dramas.

From trends I see on the news, I wouldn't be surprised to see an even larger Chinese and Korean criminal presence in the next 10 years as their home countries get more skilled at limiting their scams at home.

Back in the nineties the only potential problem was the English Bover Boys who looked tough and acted tough but I never saw any trouble with them. By the way what happened to them??

Yes, be off before the ladyboy pick pockets start to congregate. Or move to quieter areas.

Do Thai police have tazers? Would seen to be useful for this type of issue.

I very much doubt that a Taser would have any effect on that lump of lard and steroids He's built like a brick s***house.

...Pretty Sad Trend... (?)

...White Foreigner = Guilty... (?)

give these Monstets a lesson ?

Thats one tough mother I'd be giving him a wide berth but definitely an entertainer

So, Pattaya actually has at least 10 cops. I was beginning to wonder as I hardly ever see any out and about.

Good to know the first two do not constitute disorder.

He's scum. He either belongs in a mental hospital or at best in a gorillas cage at a zoo. Trouble with a zoo is that the real gorillas would reject his presence.

You sit back and do nothing if someone pulls your wife's hair, hits your daughter over the head with a bottle, and a guy with stick pushes your wife over ?

traffic cops are easier to find.

it's more lucrative.

The bottle was an escalation after a reaction from the hair-pulling. And in a crowded bar, you never know who else is going to jump in.

You extricate yourself, if possible. Just swallow your pride and get the hell out.

One of Pattaya's quality family tourists???

The chair mafia are missing a good opportunity here. Renting out chairs in prime locations in Pattaya. Serving a few drinks and waiting for the next brawl , shouting match, hooker fight . I don't drink but would definitely rent a chair for the action.

A taser would be no good to quell this big log I reckon a lump of 4/2 would work better...

What? I do not relate to your comment. I do not live in Thailand for starters.

I think you've rather missed the point.

You've made an rather strong derogatory opinion which implies you feel you are entitled to an opinion (I agree that you have a right to an opinion), yet when scrutinised, you use 'not living in Thailand' as an excuse to avoid explanation of said opinion.

You described the man as a "gorilla" and implied his actions were animalistic. My question was simple: if someone pulled your wife's hair, smashed a bottle over your daughter's head, and another man shoved your wife to the ground with a stick, what would you do?

That question works whether you're in Thailand, Britain, Norway or the Moon.

If you want to avoid answering it, that's your prerogative. But "I don't live in Thailand" isn't really a response, because your original comment wasn't about Thai geography, it was a judgement on someone's actions.

So which is it?

Are your comments open to discussion, scrutiny, disagreement and questioning, like everyone else's? Or are they somehow exempt or invalid because you don't live in Thailand.

You can't really have it both ways.

give the police tasers, or just shoot in the leg. job done.

Well - the Indian lad tried a 'lump' of 2x2 on his wife - which is kind of why in the video see him 'going mental' and retaliating against the Indian lad.

After that the (the big) unit) tries to walk away - a guy in a helmet tries to sucker kick him and gets his faceshield and face smashed in as a result.

After that the (the big) unit) still tries to walk away, de-escalate and extricate himself from the situation

Then another guy (win rider) tries to attack him with the same 2x2 used earlier on his wife - that guy was lucky.

So... The tried wood - they tried ganging up on him - It didn't work.

What would have worked:

  • Indian Lad not attacking his Wife

  • Helmet Guy not getting involved and trying to sucker kick him

  • Win Rider not attempting to attack him

Then we'd be left with - what happened inside - whats the truth of the story involving the ladyboy with whom the Wife had an initial confrontation, got her hair pulled, then the ladyboy hit the daughter over the head with a bottle - There's a trigger point there - then overflow to 'outside' where others who seemingly were not involved in the initial confrontation inserted themselves into the situation.

1 minute ago, it is what it is said:

Shoot someone in the leg in a crowded brawl - Tell me you are Second Amendments Rights / NRA Gun lover from the USA without telling me you are a Second Amendments Rights / NRA Gun lover from the USA !!!! whistling

My understanding is the wife's hair was pulled, she retaliated, and THEN the bottle was smashed over her head.

Pulling someone's hair is not technically a violent assault. It hasn't caused any real physical harm. It's a minor act of aggression.

They still had the option of just extricating themselves before things spiralled out of control.

People do not want to swallow their pride, but this can lead to getting yourself killed or murdering someone else.

Indeed it can... But I know if someone pulled my Wife's hair - I'd react... Would you really just sit there and swallow your pride ?

In this case - altercation with Ladyboy, Wife's hair pulled, daughter intervened, ladyboy hit daughter over head with bottle - then reportedly ladyboy left quickly... I'm not sure if the the confrontation spilled outside because the father (Big lad) chased the Ladyboy and thats where others got involved (pure speculation there - but that seems feasible).

Either way - it takes an extremely well disciplined or an extremely fragile snowflake to do nothing while their wife gets their hair pulled.

Well, they did not come out of this situation victorious.

1 - The ladyboy got away unscathed

2 - The bottle to the head might have been avoided

3 - Now you're attacking everybody and anybody, you don't know who might have a gun or if a mob might form against you, and you're jailed, fined, deported and banned from Thailand for life. And your daughter still needs to get to a hospital.

You tell me if you still think this was the best response then, if not swallowing your pride and just extricating yourself after the hair pulling.

Completely agree with you in principle - in the cold light of 20/20 hindsight and pure 'Monday Morning Quarterbacking' - even walking into a such a 'bar / area' with family in the first place is a wrong choice.

On point 3 - he wasn't attacking everyone and anybody - the video clearly shows he [the big unit] retaliated strongly to anyone who attacked him or his family.

I do agree - the risk of Mob is of great concern - guns, knives and particularly machete's in Thailand is a significant risk with any out of hand 'melee' - particularly when onlookers who should remain onlookers start frothing at the mount and can't help but get involved.

Regardless of how some may see it (and want it) - I don't see the guy being Jailed, deported or banned for this - I think there is a strong argument for defending his family - I see a slap on the wrist and a simple B500 fine for disrupting the peace.

Personally - I never take family into anything other than a 'family area' - I'm not sure if this was.

I've walked out of many area's when witnessing things start to escalate on nearby tables.

I recall being in a decent restaurant years ago when a guy brought in two ropey hookers - the girls were a loud, animated, and seeking attention - totally classless and leaving little doubt as to their 'chosen career path'...

... I didn't hear what the guy said, but I heard one of the girls with him respond "I don't give a F*** about anyone else, I'm here to f'***ing enjoy myself"...

We hadn't ordered yet - so just left - we were on the next table and it was only a matter of time before their attitude spread beyond their table - easier just to go elsewhere and not have to listen to the silliness....

... Had we stayed, I could easily have seen a situation grow arms and legs... as the hookers get more bolshy, louder and animated, Wife looks over... and they say "what is that B*£*h looking at" etc... that sort of outcome was easily predictable from the offset - easier to extricate ourself and enjoy our evening elsewhere....

Both would likely just aggravate him even more.
