British Woman Charged With Murder in Pattaya

Featured Replies

A 20-year-old British woman has been charged with murder after her 33-year-old British partner was found dead with multiple stab wounds at a villa in Pattaya. Thai police allege Isabelle Violet Carreras was responsible for the killing, although she has denied the accusation during questioning.

The victim was discovered in the shower with stab wounds to his back, torso and left hand, with a pillow placed beneath his head. Police were alerted after one of the man’s friends became concerned when he could not be contacted and went to the villa, where he found the body in the bathroom. Carreras was reportedly lying beside him in tears when officers arrived.

Investigators said blood was found on furniture, bathroom tiles and cabinets, while several blood-soaked towels were recovered from the property. Police also alleged that parts of the scene appeared to have been cleaned before officers arrived.

A 20-inch hunting knife, described by investigators as a “zombie knife”, was recovered from a sink and is believed to be the murder weapon. Police said the blade showed signs of having been wiped clean. Officers also noted cuts on Carreras’ fingers during questioning.

Carreras denied killing her partner and claimed he had taken his own life. She told investigators that he had recently become “really into grass”, referring to cannabis, and alleged that he had been taking six strips of Valium each day.

Police Colonel Nattapon Phongsuksakul said investigators were reviewing CCTV footage from the villa to establish how the fatal stabbing occurred. He said: “It is a murder case inside a house, with the body ultimately being found in the bathroom.”

He added: “The girlfriend denied committing the murder. However, based on the wounds, it is difficult for us to accept that claim because there was clearly a stab wound to the back.”

Police said they believe the killing took place at about 4am, with authorities not being notified until around 9.30am. Initial investigations indicate the victim had been dead for some hours before his body was found.

Neighbours told police the couple had moved into the villa around two weeks earlier and were known to smoke cannabis regularly. Police said there was evidence cannabis had been consumed and were carrying out further tests to determine whether it had been used before the incident.

Colonel Nattapon said: “Based on the evidence gathered so far, investigators believe Ms Isabelle Violet Carreras was responsible for the killing. She has now been formally charged with murder, but she continues to deny the allegation during questioning.”

He added that investigators were still awaiting the full autopsy report, forensic examination results and DNA analysis before finalising the case file. Police also said they believe cannabis intoxication may have contributed to the suspect’s actions.

The Sun reported that local mèdia reported that the couple were believed to have been married, although Thai police have not confirmed their marital status. The UK Foreign Office said it was supporting the families of the two British nationals and remained in contact with the local authorities.

Multiple stab wounds, including to the back, make this sound far more complex than a simple claim of suicide. Check out what appear to be injuries to her fingers in the photo—not a good look for her claim. And wow… that is a knife. Hopefully the investigation uncovers the truth. RIP, sir.

This could be the result of anything though TH is full of temptations, probably best for weak guys to leave their gf’s at home before coming here.

"best" comments in the Sun newsrag seem to be from his parents. British consulate doing a sterling job as usual.

Quite likely a psychopath.

Yeah - only psycho foreigners in Thailand... just the foreigners... only... 🤔🙃

Ignore the Thai-Thai news - its only the foreigners doing dodgy stuff in this echo-chamber you've created.

She looked shady back then. Now a murderer and druggie.

She said the victim was smoking grass and taking 6 strips of valium a day. If she had waited a bit, he might have died of an OD, if he was taking multiple valiums and drinking as well. The Pattaya police commander suggested she was intoxicated on cannabis which might have played a role in the killing which seems unlikely as cannabis usually makes people want love and peace. On the video taken by the victim's friend 6 hours after the killing she sounded very disoriented, more like someone on downers like valium that cannabis. I hope police have done thorough bloodwork on her. Probably will find cannabis, alcohol and valium. I wonder what they were officially doing in Thailand. Reports say the victim was the manager of a large cannabis farm. Anyway a tragic story and sympathies to the victims family.

Why would they have a "Zombie Knife" in their villa?

Is this the type of knife one uses for cooking, or peeling fruit?

For such mundane work, I think a Zombie Knife would be...

Overkill, or something.

So what are you trying to say?

She was a normal decent girl and he corrupted her?

He created a Golum that eventually turned against him?

C'mon really ???... "zombie knife" is one of those fantasy blades straight out of a post-apocalyptic fever dream. Covered in serrations, spikes, biohazard symbols and tactical nonsense... Just enough to make one wonder if it's for shaving wood at weekend camping trip or compensating for something a little more sinister.

It's the sort of thing you'd expect to find hanging from the belt of an NRA enthusiast who was refused a carry license due to a previous misdemeanour of rogering his nieces nephew who turned out to be older than him anyway - turns out it was just outside of Alabama county lines....😳

Off topic again Richard, your comments are becoming annoying.

The article is regarding a sick, psycho foreigner.

If I read an article regarding a Thai person slaughtering someone I will comment on Thai's.

What is this obsession this generation has about loading up on drugs? Makes my old days of drinking beer until I needed to sleep look so tame.

If there are some little colored pills lying around I would flush them! Never know what is in them!

HI Lou

Nice to meet you. In countries where there is a professional consulate as opposed to a the outfit that is in Bangkok, the mother and father of the victim would have been kept informed of developments during the proceedings, and not be beaten to it by the Sun perhaps?

I'm simply saying in my eyes she's not bad.... until dope fiend got onto her. Note there is no "before leaving thailand the victim was a cellist in the royal symphony orchestra".... or anything than what he clearly was 😏

It would be wonderful if criminals had the courtesy to stay in their own countries and practice their profession there instead of seeking international career opportunities.

Asking the same of their admirers and sympathizers hardly seems unreasonable.

"He added: “The girlfriend denied committing the murder. However, based on the wounds, it is difficult for us to accept that claim because there was clearly a stab wound to the back.”"

From Google: Yes, cannabis can cause psychosis. Research consistently indicates that cannabis use can lead to both temporary psychotic episodes and long-term psychotic disorders like schizophrenia.

From personal expeirence I have been attacked by a former girlfriend who had a well documented history of drug usage. No provocation, she was having a bad day. Fortinately in my case there were no sharp objects around when I was attacked in the face.

Based on case evidence, google research, and personal expeience there is lttle doubt in my mind that she was involved in his death, For the record that was the last time I knowingly went out with a girl who took drugs

From a purely physical point of view, it is very difficult to stab oneself in the back. So, if you are going to try to defend yourself after killing someone, at least attempt to make the story plausible.

What I will never be able to understand, is when a relationship is not working out, why not just walk away from it? Why take another life?
