cutiepie. Cuddle, Felix, and welcome, Bigmove.

Thanks, Jet. When Felix came to us, he was always meowing, maybe he misses his brothers and sisters. I think they are about 6. He was given to me by a TV member and certainly a great addition to the family as everytime I come home from work he would always come to me. A lot of times I feel guilty as we leave him in the house everyday, but we always make sure that he has a lot of food and fresh water and some toys to play around the house. But I think it is ok for him as my husband arrives early everyday. he is also toilet trained now (he poo-poo in our toilet bowl) so less mess everyday. I guess the training works.

But I want to know, is it ok to give him a bath everyday?I always do this everyday after work. And he seemed to enjoy this as I give him a warm bath everyday and never meow when I do this.My husband says maybe I do it every other day he said he might catch a cold or something? Is this ok?

Thanks

Your felix is cute and welcome him to this forum.

About showering, I do that for my chihuahua once a week as I heard most pet have dry skin and should not bath often.

I have never put my cats in the bath or shower.

I thought that cats clean themselves naturally - Mine are always cleaning themselves.

Why do you find the need to bathe your cat? Who is a cuty by the way`!!!

Yeah I know that cats clean themselves, i just want Felix to be clean as he sleeps with us every night. He uses the toilet every morning to urinate and to poo poo. He always do this everyday before me and my husband use the bathroom. I think he wants to be first to use it, but it's ok it with us. When he do this I wash (the butt) with warm water as well as the feet so I am assured that he is clean the whole day even if he sleeps in our bed. When I give him a bath everyday, he seems enjoying it and sleeps after eating. I will go to the Vet this weekend to have him check also and possibly for de-worming. Anyone knows how much it cost here?

thanks,

BM

Hi again everyone,

I want to bring Felix to the vet soon, any recommendations?I prefer a vet near my place (Suk 71). I saw some clinics near but not sure if they are ok. Is Ramkamheng ok?how much would it cost me say for vaccines and de-worming as when I adopted Felix I was told that he has not yet been to a vet before.I would want to check his health although he is in perfect shapre but i just want to give him the best care as possible.

Thanks,

BM

You bathe your cat? Never did mine. They clean themselves. And always slept with me, too. Too much shampoo will dry their skin out. And you clean his bottom? They do that themselves, too. But get him to a vet for vaccinations. Sorry, don't know any in BKK, but if it's only vaccines, any should be ok. Maybe 400-500 baht? Make sure you get a vaccine booklet.

Thanks, jet.I bathe my cat now once a week as my friend told me it's not good to bathe him everyday. and I just a cat shampoo i bought in a pet shop near my house never dries his skin. I know cats clean themselves but Felix loves to bath as sometimes she would come to the bathroom when i took my shower as if he is telling me he wants to shower too.I also wash his bottom as sometimes he can't clean it completely and show some traces of his poo-poo.

I bathe my cats whenever they get dirty from "repairing the car" !

Some greasy stains have to be removed with shampoo ...

NB:I already told (especially the female) that the car is OK but she tends not to beleive me and goes there to inspect by herself !

my doctor friend bathes her cats everyday with very mild shampoo; she has asthma and so does her son, but loves her cats so the bathing rids the cat of its saliva on its fur which carries the enzyme that most people are allergic to.their licking puts the saliva with the enzymes on the cats fur and presto, an allergy bomb. her kids sleep with the cats also.

the only 'dirty' thing about cats is that they can carry toxoplasmosis which comes from their feces, and an other disease that comes from their scratches (they are carriers but not symtpmatic, and although not common, is not rare either as an other friend of mine recently had this although from a scratch from her dog: fever chills flue like symptoms etc)...

hairless cats are hypoallergenic cats.
