His mother will soon join those who partake in prison tourism, visiting family who are locked up in Thailand. This demographic of tourist continues to grow in Thailand.

Seriously, how you can concoct a serial killer theory out of a guy who has some empty suitcases in his house is really far out there.

No, I'm not saying he is either, although this might not be the first victim of his. Isolation is a huge symptom of a mental illness , which can be depression or a lot worse. People don't just start killing innocents without some past behavioral problems. It can be held back awhile before they explode like this, or started by killing animals for pleasure. Serial killers always start with one person. Crimes of passion are another thing entirely, which this could have been, but anger to make a person kill another comes from somewhere.................https://maamodt.asp.radford.edu/research%20-%20forensic/2005%2020-1-Mitchell-40-47.pdf.

He isolated himself from his family. It appears he was more than happy to mix with bar girls. And there is the friend who stored stuff at his apartment that he was going to have lunch with.

Not being in regular contact with family living in a different country, doesn’t mean isolated in the sense of not interacting with anyone at all.

There's nothing wrong with police trying to find a connection with this murder, and other murders with a similar modus operandi.

Indeed, when news broke of this case, I suggested even police in Australia would be looking into this guy.

... so far. But I also neither see nor hear any sign that anyone is looking more closely at this character.

Oz and Thai national police should be going through his past with a fine tooth comb. Where he's lived and worked. Any cold cases close by. There is absolutely no excuse for not doing so. Prostitute killers are notorious for serial killing.

Fact is he's just killed a 17 year old sex worker over, he claims, a couple of dollars. Killed her. That is another league entirely. This is not drunkenly hitting a taxi driver, like some performing bogan or chav. He murdered her. Not many people have that in their CV. It's very special.

I had a dispute with a starfish in Phuket way back when. It never occurred to me to actually KILL her even though I was not a happy camper at all. I sent her packing with half the price (to make it easier though I got nothing for it other than starfish and dispute) and the threat that if she didn't shift her pretty backside outta my room pronto I'd get the police round and she'd get nothing. She left reluctantly (presumably she'd have to find an excuse for her pimpfriend for only getting half the dosh). But she left in one piece.

Yep, nothing wrong with considering the possibility. But there is a limit to the amount of time that should be spent examining ever yet more incredulous possibilities.

Can I ask how long it has been since he was in Australia?

Load of nonsense. Lots of serial killers had normal lives.

Serial killers really don't have normal lives.

Many appear to lead 'normal' lives having built a picture of normality and knowing how to appear and behave normally like all psychopaths do. Like Peter Suttcliffe did.

There is nothing normal about secretly going around killing people, usually vulnerable women, usually prostitutes or junkies of some kind, either singly or in series, which is their REAL life.

I don't know when he was last in Australia, but imagine if there were missing sex workers, or the bodies of sex workers discovered, in various locations where this guy was living in Australia, over a certain time frame.

Two other deceased people have been found in suitcases in Pattaya. There is nothing wrong with considering this guy as a potential suspect in those cases.

Ivan Milat, Australia's backpacker serial killer, is linked to other missing / murdered people. Police just could not obtain enough evidence in those cases. They went missing at locations where he was working, and fitted the same victim profile.

Thai police investigate if Australian man charged over 17-year-old girl’s murder linked to other unsolved cases

Police say there are similarities but no evidence of links between Thunchanok Donhomla’s alleged murder and two other deaths in past two years in same region

Thai police are investigating whether an Australian man charged with murdering a 17-year-old girl could be linked to two unsolved cases in the region.

Police colonel Anek Srathongyoo, a superintendent of Pattaya City police station, told the Guardian on Tuesday that although there was no evidence linking Simon Peter Carman to the cases in neighbouring regions, they were investigating the possibility given similarities between the cases.

Srathongyoo said the two unsolved cases in the last two years also involved similar crime scenes with women’s bodies found in suitcases, but they had been more difficult to solve because more time had passed between the women’s deaths and their bodies being found.

Well hopefully police in Thailand and Australia will read on this website to find out what they should be doing.

There's some truth to that, as some have criminal minds, just like the show explains. To think like they do. Conspiracy theorists have at times figured out crimes before the professionals have, and some of us are into this type of thing, Overlooking things is how serial killers get away with it so long, and they seem to be normal people on the outside, and all of them live next door to someone.

Some serial killers and single killers are copycats, looking how someone disposed of bodies and a suitcase is a lot easier than carrying out in a rug or on your back, especially with all the CCTV around now. Granted again, this might have been his first kill, but time will tell.

Yes. Maybe not connected, but who knows?

They have this guy's DNA now, and I am sure police Thai police, and police in Australia, will be running it on some cold cases also.

I wonder if he coincidentally flew out of Thailand a day or two before the other bodies in suitcases were found here, and returned to Thailand once he saw in the news police did not have a suspect.

That's not correct, those convicted of murder can, after a certain time, apply to serve the remaining sentence in the home country.

They talk about flat-footed policemen. May the saints protect us from the gifted amateur.

Just imagine. How about some cold hard facts?

I get the impression in has been in Thailand for a good few years, subsequent to his brain surgery which I assume was carried out in Australia.

There is nothing to link him to the other suitcase cases in Pattaya, other than maybe that’s what he got the idea from.

I get where you are coming from, but there just isn’t any evidence to support your imagination. This guy looks like a loser who got in an argument with a bar girl that became a fight and ended in tragedy.

RTP should look at unsolved cases and will easily rule him out or in. Maybe an enquiry to Australian police, more as a cya thing. But the bounds of imagination are endless it’s not really helpful to get too carried away.

NB He was on their radar long before all this.

Yes, on their radar for something or other.

In which case it won’t take them long to say there was nothing to suggest he was involved with murders in Australia. He was already known to them so presumably if there had been anything to find, they would have found it back then.

Cant he just be a simple murderer over a bar fine gone wrong?

How about some cold hard facts, not what he looks like? 😂

You only get cold hard facts from further investigation.

I agree, and they are. That's the only point I am making. I don't care what he "looks like" which is irrelevant. Ted Bundy being a prime example. Did Ted Bundy look like a serial killer? What does a serial killer actually look like?

Police in Australia will not an invitation. Even the events published in the news will have the cold case section/s looking at this guy.

Being known to police for things like theft, does not mean they look into you for murder. If he had brain surgery, that may have been the reason he lost his forearms, not because he threatened to shoot someone.

Yes, it can be a one off murder, but the point I am making is there is nothing wrong looking further into this guy's past and unsolved cases. The reason I say this is mainly because of his actions after the murder.

Don’t be silly. When I said “looks” like a loser I didn’t mean his appearance visually. It’s an English based expression with which you probably aren’t familiar.

Well, I guess that is happening. Thai police have already said that there is nothing linking him to the other two suitcase murder in Pattaya.

I guess we will hear back from the Australian police relatively quickly given that he was on their radar while in Australia and had interactions with them.

Then they just need to check if he ever went travelled to another country and follow up with the police there.

When I said “looks” like a loser

These are YOUR words.

So, tell me, what, exactly, does a "loser" look like?

It's reported he owns a farm in Australia. If that farm was worth $20 million AUD, is he still a "loser?"

I'll go by investigation into his background, not what he "looks like."

Yes. I used the descriptive as an idiom for a person who is down on his luck or generally unlucky in life.

He had brain surgery for a tumor and is sitting in a Thai jail accused of murder and I might add, the subject of rampant speculation that he is a serial killer.

So in my books he qualifies as a loser in life irrespective of whether he had a farm worth 20 million dollars in Australia.

I suggest checking the meaning of an idiom before pressing the “loser” angle with another post.

2 minutes ago, wensiensheng said:

I'm sure it is, which is simply the point I am making.

2 minutes ago, wensiensheng said:

3 minutes ago, wensiensheng said:

Or, there may be nothing to hear back from them about. Who knows? It's early days.

Now, here's one for you to consider. Yes, yes, I know, another "what if" but it has happened in the past.

What if he says he knows the location of another body / bodies and he will confess to the killing / killings for a reduced sentence and / or prisoner exchange? The body / bodies being In Thailand and / or Australia.

If in Australia, now it becomes a diplomatic issue.

If you were the parents / family of a missing person, and he is the suspect, wouldn't you want police to take that deal, in the hope of finding the remains and laying them to rest?

I'm not saying it will happen. What I am saying is I have considered the possibility because I think outside the box.

Once again, you base your hypothesis on what he "looks like." I am basing it more on his actions after the event, and those actions tend to indicate to me serious criminal intent to avoid apprehension, to the point police should be looking into his past and any connection to cold cases.

9 minutes ago, wensiensheng said:

Then they just need to check if he ever went travelled to another country and follow up with the police there.

And check who went missing, prioritizing sex workers, particularly those who did "out calls" around every location in Australia where this guy has lived.
