Yes they knew, but like today, too many are non believers and those in charge are the ones who set the laws. The planet can be saved if the whole world's leaders would enact immediate measures, and energy resources are shifted as fast as possible. Stop the intense tree destruction and rely more on electricity.

IMHO, MMGW / CC is a farce, and not much has changed the past century.

98% of our energy at home comes from solar, other 2% from natural gas. Transport is solar powered locally, which is about 70% of our driving.

There are simple solutions for cleaner energy, if govts would not cower & comply to big oil corporations, not that the world temps are being raised because of fossil fuel.

Fossil fuel, even coal can be burned rather efficiently & clean, if the extra effort is made, though cuts into profits.

Batteries? Yes, of course I do, as I did go to school. The planet has thrived on coal and gas way too long, and it's hard to change that over as it's a huge profit base for many. Take them out of the equation, as they aren't as important as saving the planet for the rest of the people living on it. Electricity can, and has come from natural sources, instead of burning things.

What is wrong with tree farms? The trees that were cut down will grow back. This can happen via artificial regeneration or planting crews.

The Quaternary is not the longest ice age in the last 600 million years. Earlier ones lasted far longer, for example:

The Late Paleozoic Ice Age lasted ~75 million years.

It’s also not the deepest (most severe). Earlier events like the Cryogenian glaciation were likely far more extreme, possibly covering most of Earth in ice.
