Plant problem

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. Any clues on the issue we have here with this large plant at the back of the house? On Phuket, if that makes any difference.

Any help appreciated as we know zero about plants.. đŸģ

Caterpillers, as it's butterfly season now it appears, they're everywhere, and seems never ending.

Wife mixes up dish soap, vinegar, water and sprays everything she can. Takes a lot of time and work. Notice she just bought a couple new sprayers.

We have a lot of birds in area, and that helps also. Bee eaters are non stop, perch, eat, perch, eat, perch, eat. Fruit (mulberry) trees, water stations, bird bath & waterfalls helps attract them, and lots of species here.

Why we have a Greenhouse for my prized figs 🙄

But yea, they chew up a lot of the vegitation and wreak havek on her garden. You can spray with commercial chemicals, but a lot of our garden is fruits & veggies we eat, along with the dog, so commercial 'poisons' are out of the questions.

I should have added that I can't see any sort of bug on the leaves and have checked at different times of the day. đŸģ

We use bacillus thuringiensis for defoliators, it’s nontoxic and effective for defoliating wormsâ€Ļ

Birds tend to pick them up pretty quickly, though not before the damage is done and then another one comes in. If you have a big tree close, more birds and fewer worms.
