Ok, so rappers make million. Japan has rappers, so does South Korea and France. Theyir cultures are not disintegrating because of it. They are one small demographic of a population. We do not speak the dialects of English or French or German that was spoken 500 or even 100 years ago.

In all my days, I've seen quite a few speaking fast, from every place I've been, and heard it from Americans, Brits, Aussies, Germans and Mexicans. Thais speak very fast and some of them can't understand each other. Most Americans I've listened to speak at a normal speed. Hundreds of thousands in all these years, including teachers.

It isn't hard to understand those who speak fast. The only problem is the strong accents in some cases.

Yes, faster than American. And often tend to slur words together. Sort of lazy pronunciation - though not intentional. Accents closer to Washington State or Minnesota/Michigan.

Listen to the likes of the UK's Talk Radio or GB News and you will hear some presenters speaking English way too quickly. It is not only an American issue. In fact a couple of American friends speak with a rather charming slow drawl.

I've never thought people from the USA speak fast. Sometimes, I have a hard time understanding people speaking English who are from England, especially the many dialects such as Brummie, Cockney, Scottish, Irish, and then, of course, Australian English.

I was born and raised in Hawaii and when I moved to the mainland and enlisted in the military nobody could understand my pidgin and thought I was from a different country. Though still am unable to decipher some folks from Louisiana, Mississippi, East Texas and east LA. Have a hard time understanding some of my Brit friends here though most speak clear enough.

I think speed confuses when the accent is unfamiliar. I speak Thai but when the family gathers and speaks colloquially then I tune out. Unfamiliar slang always takes longer to untangle so speaking slang at native speed confuses many.
