Update WISE to change country to UK

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I am looking at changing my WISE Account country, from Thailand to UK, as I want my funds deposited into my UK Bank Account via WISE.

Main reason, is next month Wise, Thailand will operate as a local Entity.

I have a UK address, a Bank Account in England registered to my UK address.

I will remit funds to Thailand only what I need to live in Thailand

I cannot change country in WISE, the country field is greyed out and need to contact support to provide documents.

Anyone else done this, any issues ? what documents you need to provide etc ?

Thanks

From what I read you will need a recent utility bill, bank account statement and the usual government id. However this is also based on tax residency. Are you UK tax resident?

Make a new wise account?

I am not a UK tax resident as I spend less than 180 days in UK, I have UK address (parents home), and have UK Bank statement registered there

Basically this is why I don't use WISE. I know their rates are a bit better, but I make only one overseas remittance a year to my Thai account. So for just one remittance is not really worth the hassle of setting up a WISE account - that is going to become yet another Thai bank.

Many of us are doing this exact thing to reduce our banking footprint in Thailand.

Thailand is likely to suffer yet another unintended consequence.
