Your ‘ethnically English’ construct is meaningless. England didn’t exist as a nation until the late 10th Century, nobody could call themselves English before that date. Less than a century later the Normans conquered England, replacing the whole of the nobility, the vast majority of the clergy and instigated French as the language of the ‘English State’. For over 300 years the only literature in England was written in either French or Latin. Many of England’s current nobility trace their family lineage in an unbroken line back to the Norman conquest. Still lording it over ‘the English’ over 900 years after taking the place over. In the interim years there has been constant flows of immigrants, Jews in the Middle Ages, Huguenots and Flemish in the late Middle Ages, Dutch in the 18th Century, immigrants from across European, specifically more Jews, and Irish in the 19th Century, commonwealth immigrants in the post WW2 period. And non of that included the constant immigration intermarrying and inter breading around England’s numerous sea and inland ports. Centuries of immigrants arriving in the England, settling down, getting on with life and within a generation being as English as the next Jonny down the road. You’re ’Ethically English’ is absolute nonsense.
