Who's more popular? Democratic Socialists or MAGA?

How scary is a democratic socialist candidate? Apparently not as scary as a MAGA one

https://edition.cnn.com/2026/07/20/politics/democratic-socialist-candidates-polling

The rise of democratic socialists in recent House primaries is certainly posing problems for the Democratic Party. But as Republicans seek to make this a central issue in the 2026 midterm elections, new data indicates it might not be as big a liability for Democrats as one might think.

A case in point: A new poll suggests that a democratic socialist candidate is actually less of a liability than being a MAGA supporter or being endorsed by President Donald Trump.

The new CNBC poll got at this question in an interesting way. It asked registered voters whether they would be more or less likely to vote for candidates with various associations. While 50% of voters said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who describes themselves as a democratic socialist, just 32% said they would be more likely. That’s not too good.

Then we get to the “but.”

The numbers were slightly worse for a generic candidate endorsed by Trump. Registered voters said they were less likely to support that candidate, 52%-29%.

And the numbers were significantly worse for a candidate who described themselves as a supporter of the MAGA movement. In that case, the margin was 57%-27%.

Perhaps even more important than those overall numbers, the Trump-endorsed and MAGA options also engendered more passionate opposition than a democratic socialist did. (That doesn’t bode well for the GOP’s strategy since the idea is generally to scare would-be voters away from democratic socialist candidates.) So, while 42% said they were “much less likely” to back a democratic socialist, that number was 46% for a Trump-endorsed candidate and 50% for a MAGA candidate.

If AI replaces millions of jobs, the capitalist system may need to be revamped into a more socialist type of system.

Could be in 10 years? 15 years? Nobody knows.

But this Democratic Socialist party may be a sign of the times.

Capitalism is slavery for the majority. If you're not in the top few percent you're essentially a slave. And you're definitely not in the top few percent. Still living in Cambodia?

Some find it difficult to see capitalism as slavery, even when they are struggling to survive as the middle class shrinks, unemployment grows, the working class and poverty expands rapidly, and the number of billionaires slowly increases.

Nah....https://www.oecd.org/en/data/insights/statistical-releases/2026/02/unemployment-rates-updated-february-2026.html

If you look at the big picture, the unemployment rate is 5% across the OECD.

I sure hope Trump endorses, speaks for and stumps for every Republican candidate. Keep America great!

Lived there for 5 years in Phnom Penh. Left because the drug use got too high and the accompanying crime increase. No desire to live there again. You have electric 24/7/365?

I wonder if it's clear sarcasm or your opinion, indeed?

The latter would be required to see a medical specialist🤡

Capitolism is freedom to do what you want, with unlimited opportunities. Freedom to think for yourself, and create as much wealth, if that's a priority, as you want.

To live independent of govt & social boundaries if wanting.

Socialism is a cower & comply society, for those with no ambition and simply fail to think for themselves.

Holes are taken in the hands of the poll taker. It's meaningless than a world of confusion that is not worth the time of reading about poll Statistics.

The people don't buy what millionaires have to offer then there'll be no millionaires.

So who do you want to blame not the fact that they're blame is necessary.h

When people have a choice, they chose capitalism, or mixed economic system, not socialism. Migration patterns prove that, and people want more than what socialism will allow you to have. Opportunities and independence ROCKS ...

The lack of true socialist countries is also proof, it is a failed system, and can't be sustained, as you eventually run out of other people's money. Can't even say China and Vietnam are socialist, as capitalism in now ingrained in their economy.

Lots of millionaires now in both countries, thanks to capitalism. Socialism doesn't allow millionaires to exist, unless they are the ruling govt controlling families, politician.

You have a choice, if you think there is a better system. planes leave ever day ... nothing stopping, you except the common sense you refuse to accept.

Since taking office as Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani’s key successes include securing $1.2 billion in state aid for universal child care, fixing 100,000 potholes, and winning $34 million on behalf of tenants. He has also advanced a plan for city-run grocery stores and expanded the "3K" early childhood program.

Not bad for a social Democrat.
