It depends on the country. In France, KFC is disgusting and overpriced. From your experience as given above, it seems like it is the same in Malaysia. But the Thai Zinger burger tastes amazing and it is definitely chicken.

It is really tasty indeed: whenever I come to Thailand, I actually make a point eating at least one, it has become kind of a ritual (whenever the wife decides to do her big shopping excursions for the whole family in one of the giant malls).

Compared to KFC in Germany, it really is very good.

The reason: KFC in Thailand uses a lot of the "cheap" cuts, which are not earmarked for export, which means the pieces with lots of fat; in Germany, they do actually use chicken breasts (at least a percentage), which also makes KFC there really expensive.

Also, Thai KFC does contain a lot of MSG, as somebody already mentioned. Fat is a taste carrier, as is MSG. Which makes it really yummy.

Point of order. You cannot trademark a place name. That’s why there is no running shoe model named Boston, or Atlanta, or Mexico. Onitsuka Tiger had to call it “Mexico 66”

KFC is loaded to the gills with MSG

MSG is safe with normal consumption and actually has less sodium than table salt, which is a better alternative if you need to reduce sodium. Some have a reaction to it in larger amounts.

People eat more junk food now than ever before, and it's not about being stupid but either unaware how dangerous all the junk food is, or the fact many just love eating it and don't care about the consequences. Nutrition has been out in the news for generations and obesity is increasing every year. Taste over care. Manufacturers of processed foods know exactly what they're doing, adding extra sugar and salt to foods.

KFC is eaten by millions because it tastes good and is easy to just buy and eat. I don't eat fried foods anymore so it's off my list but it did taste good when I tried it back in New Jersey and Texas.

Why would KFC want to create such a bad legend? And, I doubt another competitor would go to the trouble. In any case, here's something I found to cheer you up. Courts in both San Francisco and the UK have ordered Dairy Queen to change its name to DQ when it was determined that not enough queens--either gay or royal--were frequenting their establishments to justify the name. That's a good one thanks for the chuckle. It's not as if KFC created the legend, but legend or shall we say the facts were already there, and they simply spent a fortune on PR to debunk it.

That is my theory. Regardless it certainly doesn't taste like chicken to me. I've had much better chicken at the neighborhood street stall that uses four day old grease.

... also in onions, which is why any soup or sauce pulver contains a large percentage of onion pulver (so they avoid adding MSG as an ingredient).

There are people that react negatively to MSG; but for the most majority, if oyu jkust have a balnaced diet, having some MSG in your food to create a better taste is no problem at all.

The accusations of mutant chickens all came from Chinese companies, so it seems like ruthless competitors are trying to damage KFC's reputation to gain market share. I believe China has at least on KFC copycat company.

nah, was a joke.

It seems "fried" became a bad word ... I think that's where the KFC came from.

To be sure, I do not eat KFC for supposed "health benefits".

I eat it because it is tasty, adn I am aware that it is really, really unhealthy fast food. But once in awhile, I think it is ok.

I actually would likely still eat it from time to time if it were made with multi-legged mutant chickens... or if in their Zinger burger would not be any chicken at all (but it still tastes the same).

KFC in canada tastes much better. I combine it with poutine as a set.

But its aboit 450b per set

It certainly looks like chicken but it doesn't taste like chicken. For a worldwide fast food chain and it's an incredibly inferior product.

In KFC, s early days in Australia, 1960s,it was often said young rabbit, so called underground mutton, that was in plague proportions in country areas then was used instead of poultry. At that time there was not the widespread growth of poultry farms for eggs or chickens. Sunday Roast chicken was a xmas and special day thing! But KFC was very popular I recall.
