Hi All,

I'm still staying in Vietnam now and planning to come back to Thailand via Laos by land

sometimes next month.

I've heard loads of people talking about when the period you're allowed to entry the Kingdom

on VE will be reduced back to 30 days from 60 days for some nationals, which I actually am not

really concerned about. What I am very much concerned about is if you're still allowed to enter

the country on VE only twice per calendar.

As for my travel history, I went back to Thailand last April for just 4 weeks on VE, and if I do again

next month and that for 2-3 weeks, will I still be allowed to do it again (probably 2-3 weeks) later

this year or not?

As for those who are coming to Vietnam, it's been reported that you haven't yet had to submit

the health declaration before enterying the country.

There was never a blanket 2 times per year rule. There was a 2 times per calendar year at a land border rule, but no limit by air.

When visa exempt changed to 60 days, that rule was removed as well.

Now, just because there is no limit, does not mean it is unlimited. Every entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer, who will be reviewing your past 12-18 months of entries and time spent in Thailand. If the officer believes it is excessive, or that your patterns do not match that of a legitimate tourist, they are likely to give you problems. This is up to and including denied entry. If the trip in April is the only time you've been in Thailand within the last 12 months, you should be fine.

I did enter Thailand by land last April and am going to go back there by land again, too.

I'm wondering if I could go back there by land again at the 3rd time this calendar year.

You mention the future trips perhaps 3 weeks each.

I think you'll be fine, as your stays in Thailand are short and spaced out. You may be asked for any of the usual (cash, accommodation in Thailand, onward travel), so make sure you cover your bases.

I just came thru last week, they are still granting 90 Visa Exempt entries - asked the IO when it will change? He smiled and said “This year” meaning they don’t know when it will revert to 30 days. Its already 14 days VE for Indonesian Passports, why?? Dunno. My friends wife is Indo and she only got a 14 day stamp, but is extending it.

Visa exempt is 60 days, not 90 days.

And the 14 day stamp is not visa exempt, it's visa waiver, through bilateral agreement with certain countries.

It's 60 days.

As for rest of your post I could easily ask why you wonder reason for varying visa, exempt rules.

For example USA, AU etc need a tourist visa to enter Vietnam yet MANY countries have visa exempt option.

Countries set their own rules.

I'm wondering how my 2027 entry will be viewed. I guess it is all up to the IO on the day.
My days in/out of thailand will be 178 out of 195 days, ending Oct 6th. (VE+30, then SETV+30(hopefully).

From Oct 6th I will have 170 days in my home country, before I fly back here for 12-14 days.
My guess is nobody knows. And that I will need all my ducks lined up, cross my Ts and dot my Is and hope for the best.
There's another even I would like to come back for in November (around 30 days after finishing 178 days in Thailand). That would be pushing my luck, would it not?

Read your post 3 times and still can't figure out when you were in Thailand and out of Thailand.

Sorry, yes I am now in Thailand.. Until Oct 6th, when I will return to Aust for 170 days. The 2027 trip would be 12+ days.
Arrived late March. Went to Laos late June. Returned to Thai mid July.

Got it.

So the important thing is that after you next exit Thailand (Oct 6) you will be out of Thailand for 170 days in Oz.

Can't see any issue in not being able to enter visa exempt after that period out.

Seems you have onward flight withing 30 days so have a print out and 20k baht or equilivent.

That's what I thought (re 2027) too. No guarantee of course.

Coming back in November (30 days after ending roughly 180 day stay) would be reasonably problematic, do you think? It would only be a week, but I don't think I will. It would be nice.

Just one person's opinion...

I think it could be a problem.

After long time in Thailand (~ 180) to exit and return month later even for short visit would be problematic.

Also for only couple of weeks. Not worth it IMO.
