Strange Shoppee payday sale pricing (fridge)

I differ from you, I don't like ordering online any more and if a few baht more buying locally, I'll do that instead as I can see what we are getting.

I don't use these shopping services as a way to save money. (I actually spend MORE money.) More as an easier way to shop for things I don't need in a hurry. They are often cheaper in the 20Baht Shops as no shipping is involved.
But like your wife, I too LOVE TO BUY online, and often just peruse the sites looking for 'toys' to play with! Maybe a new pair of dikes or a set of Torx wrenches, maybe USB extension cord or fish food. I love it, and as long as I don't get too carried away, lots of fun!

Forget about pricing, that's the least of the worries. I bought something that cost twice what you’re paying, and here’s the much bigger problem. If you’re buying a refrigerator, washing machine, or

Unless you live in Nakhon Nowhere why by large electromechanical high(?) value items on line? Get direct from the local store with a full warranty!

It's a returned item for being too small and not cold enough.

TCL, Hisense🤔...? Check the reviews. Buy a reputable brand like Hitachi or LG, it'll save you a lot of trouble.

Hisense is awful, I already have one, not cold enough.

TCL 75" tv is amazing, best tv I've ever owned.

Samsung fridge worked well, but the metal surface appeared to be cardboard painted with metallic paint, which wore through by the handle looking awful.

LG fridge was great, but failed suddenly within 3 years so not worthwhile.

I'll post what the TCL fridge is like if/when it arrives.

Likely different sellers. Lazada and Shopee are portals hosting individual competing sellers, just like going to a market and browse different stores selling same products. Remember always to check delivery cost — sometimes a smaller product with a cheap price is more expensive when delivery is added — and warranty, if sold without warranty the price might also be cheaper.

Also worth to check seller ratings and reviews. And be aware, if the guarantee is offered by the seller, it might be more difficult, than when a product is bought in a local shop, for a fridge like Power Boy, HomePro, Global House, BigC, and Lotus's, or whatever is available. Any warranty claim to an oline seller, might end as being your own problem to solve.

Unhappy with my latest fridge, Hisense 8.8Q (5,200bht).

Emergency purchase last Sept when my LG unexpectedly failed.

Wasn't very good, a bit too small and didn't get cold enough.

So browsing Shoppee last night and saw the TCL 4 door 14Q for 9,600bht in the sale, got distracted and went to bed without ordering. This morning woke up and looked to see if it was still on sale, it was but price now 9,200bht and ordered. Midday, and looked to see if my order progressing, immediately a popup appears offering the same fridge for 8,400bht. So I cancel my order and reorder at the new price.

I'm a little confused why a shop would offer the same product at 3 different prices in less than 18hrs. I was happy with the original sale price so what are they up to?

Shoppee must be the worst ever company, they just don't deserve to stay in business. I have tried to sign up to them so many times over the last two years and all they have done was put every obstacle in my way.

Still waiting, ordered on 28, delivery 30-3, not shipped!

I see in the Shopee listing that it’s being shipped via "Standard Delivery Bulky". That usually means TP Logistics will handle the delivery, and if the distance is long they may use Flash Express for parts of the route. It will likely go on and off multiple trucks before it reaches you. It looks like it’s shipping from Samut Prakan.

Hopefully it arrives without damage. Based on my experience with those two companies, the odds of it arriving without any damage are basically zero. If it’s only a few minor dents and dings, maybe you can live with that. Or maybe you'll get really lucky and it will have no damage at all. In my experience, though, the damage was always far more than just cosmetic.

Good luck. Hopefully you’ll have it within another week. Bulky shipments do not always move quickly because they sometimes wait until they can consolidate multiple shipments going in the same direction. So even after it’s picked up from the seller, it may sit in a warehouse for a day or two more before even moving.

Sadly it appears they are using Flash Express all the way (just got the shipping number).

Interesting they are offering the Inspect on delivery before paying.

That'll be interesting on a massive fridge!

Yet, millions have created an account.

Shopee was definitely the easiest with which to create an account. Literally took under a minute to do so. Adding my address took another minute or two.

I think you might have an issue with following instructions. hence your very many posts here on this forum asking for assistance, but rarely ever being quite able to follow any of it.

They're contacts aren't the best if you need help. Are you trying on your PC or mobile? The app is easier for some to sign up or order through. I use Shopee a lot, along with Lazada, but you do run into problems once in awhile. If you're with a Thai lady or friend you can trust, they might have an easier time signing up and ordering for you.

Why are these fridges so much cheaper in Thailand. The UK equivalent seems to be priced at 600gbp

I will be surprised if that means allowing a full unboxing and damage inspection. I am guessing you will have to make a decision based on the condition of the box if you are willing to accept it and to pay or not. And the box may no longer look very convincing after said shipping.

Import Duty on Chinese goods.

I ordered 5 T-Shirts on Lazada, size 3 XL. I got 8 t-shirts size XL.

Thankfully returns are a pick up.

You all warned me, but I didn't listen, my bad!

Flash Express delivered the fridge just after dark Saturday at 6:20pm.

Fridge had been transported lying flat in the bed of a pickup (box say transport upright) after an 8hr tour of Chiang Mai (I'm at the end of their delivery route).

The delivery guy was about 60Kg, and the fridge was over 70Kg, he couldn't lift it, and his gf started crying with the effort of trying to help him.

I strained my back trying to help them both. Not really the fault of the delivery gut, he's a nice chap, just not suitable to lug around a 70Kg fridge on his own (this item really needs 2x tough guys and a tail lift).

Front of box had damage covered by clear tape, inside the box was a matching dent in one of the freezer doors (so not done by delivery guy).

Apparently TCL can't do repairs, it's return or nothing, and although the fridge itself is amazing, and at an amazing price, I can't live with the damage knowing it's there (small amount of OCD)

Tomorrow will be fun, I've already informed them I can't help lift it (again).

I'm betting they will send one small guy to try to collect it.

Maybe it's a TCL thing, they dumped my AC at the bottom of the condo stairs outside, so they hire the cheapest Pong types

Assuming you have no experience with this, otherwise you wouldn’t be asking such questions.

Every one of these appliances sold online comes with a manufacturer warranty. That isn't an issue. What the warranty does not cover is physical damage during shipping.

If I had bought the exact same model from HomePro, Power Buy, or the manufacturer’s own online store, it would have cost about 50% more. As I already said, buying online was never the problem. The delivery method was. In the end, I got one in perfect condition and still saved 50%.

The only mistake I made was not knowing where the real pitfall was from the start. Now I do.

That's an unfair dismissal. It is rare that the same model available through shopee or Lazada is sold for significantly less than through Thailand's largest appliance retailers. Power Buy, Central, HomePro all receive volume discounts. The online retailers tend to offer the lower quality appliances and usually different models. They can be the models with slight finish imperfections, or end of season batches priced for clearance.

I think I've fallen down a rabbit hole!

Guy on a scooter turned up today to collect the 77Kg fridge/freezer.

TCL Flagship Store in Shoppee doesn't reply

Shoppee chat doesn't reply

TCL website, 'contact us' page doesn't work.

Where to go from this .............

I did manage to find an email address for TCL Service.

I've asked how much for a replacement door.

Do not buy from TCL it seems they don't care about their customers.

I guess it's not a total loss, the fridge does work, just one door with cosmetic damage.

It was very cheap, maybe a few fridge magnets over the dent will work!

On a side note, if you read the reviews from customers about this fridge ........ amusing.

They nearly all complain about the fridge/freezer being damaged when delivered.

Or just left in the road outside their house/condo.

Yay for Flash Express (Bulky), gotta be the worst delivery service in the world.

You have filed a return/refund and selected pick-up as return I assume, so this is where your responsibility ends.

They have to arrange proper pick-up service, not you

They just came back with a van ........... amazing .........

Fridge loaded on it's side (box marked transport upright only) and floating around in the pickup bed. Easy to see how so many get damaged in transit.

I once ordered a 65" LG flatscreen.

Delivery was by Kerry Express, and box lay flat.

Opened it up and the screen had a crack.

Return was through flash express, who laid it also down, but since the box was bigger than the truck bed, it had no support at all in the middle.

They returned to the wrong address, and it took them 3 days to correct that. In the meantime the bottom had fallen out of the box, and now the screen was completely destroyed, as if someone had attacked it with a sledgehammer

Next the seller rejected the return, and I was lucky to have taken pictures from the pick-up transport and how I had packed it, so after 20 days I received a refund

I recall your LG failure.

But, to be fair, the image you posted of the front of the fridge....

It was a disaster.

I hope, THIS TIME, you will keep your new fridge clean.

Also, I am just glad that I am no fridge of yours.

Still, .....

Each to one's own.

Maybe you are using your fridge in at some industrial site, full of coal dust, or maybe a steel mill.

It is impossible to keep one's fridge clean on the outside if one is using it in a Steel Rolling Mill, for example.

QUESTION: How did you get your fridge so dirty in such a short time? Truly, amazing...!!!

Go big or go home. just Got rid of our 9 Q fridge and have a new 23.2 q fridge. ta Toshiba for 24 K.

Your 9 Q fridge is good for nothing but a doll house.

I use TWO 19 cubic feet fridges = total 38 cubic feet capacity (Samsung)

Plus one Hitachi fridge of 14 cubic feet

Grand Total: = 52 cubic feet

Yet, of course, not enough.

Same as computer HDD or SSD

You always think you are planning for sufficient capacity when you buy...but then....

Space is NEVER enough.

I think that photo was of the fridge that had cardboard with a metal effect coating. You didn't see dirt, but the cardboard after the coating wore through.

I agree it looked dirty, which is why I got rid of it.

Good luck with your next machine.

However, of course....

If a refrigerator is delivered horizontally, then you might want to give it about 48 hours, sitting upright, before plugging it in.

Went mad and tried again,

All the prices had changed, so this time a TCL 16.1Q side by side for 8,400bht including 1 year accidental damage insurance from Lazada TCL official store.

Arrived yesterday in perfect condition, needed 5 people to unload easily, it looks really good. It's absolutely massive!
