Chinese fraud suspect held in Samut Sakhon

Thai immigration police have arrested a 27-year-old Chinese national at a housing estate in Samut Sakhon, alleging he had overstayed by 132 days while wanted in Shenzhen on a fraud case.

The man, identified only as Mr X, was detained on 31 July 2026 at about 6pm. Police said he was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Ministry of Public Security's Longgang district in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, dated 15 September 2023.

Arrest at Rama 2 housing estate

The operation was led by Pol Col Chuwong Uthaisang, superintendent of the Immigration Bureau's fugitive suppression division, alongside Pol Lt Col Witthaya Thongphueng and Pol Maj Churinnat Sota.

Investigators said they had learned that Mr X was staying at a village development on Rama 2 Road in Bang Nam Chuet, Mueang Samut Sakhon district. Officers went to the property, identified themselves as police and checked his travel documents.

The inspection found that he had entered Thailand through the immigration checkpoint at Don Mueang Airport on 21 December 2025. He had been granted permission to remain in the kingdom until 20 March 2026, police said.

He had not left Thailand by that date, leaving him with an overstay recorded as 132 days.

Police said Mr X was accused of remaining in Thailand after his permission had ended. The Chinese warrant concerns an alleged fraud offence.

Case handed to immigration investigators

Officers said Mr X was informed of the allegation against him and of his legal rights before being transferred to investigators at the Immigration Bureau's investigation division for legal proceedings.

Thai authorities will also coordinate the relevant procedures connected to the warrant issued by authorities in the People's Republic of China.

Immigration police said the arrest reflected their efforts to pursue foreign nationals wanted under overseas warrants and those allegedly breaking Thai law after entering the country. The operation forms part of the stated policy that Thailand must not be used as a hiding place for transnational criminals.
