Although nobody explicitly stated that the Patthaya Expats Club article is wrong, I gather from your many returns that it is wrong, and that the monthly 65k baht rule still holds with no compulsory requirement to have 800k baht in the bank.

I did mention pension, but I did state that I use finances from the pension.

I am sorry that I may be wasting your time with this addendum but I was unable to use my PC for some days and the thread was closed, so I use this to record my thanks to all who contributed.

Although the information may not be up to date and a few typo errors, generally it is correct.

Using 65,000 Baht monthly transfers into a Thai bank account

• Original - Embassy Certification Letter attesting to 65,000 baht in monthly income is required if your Embassy issues such letters. If your Embassy does not certify monthly income (UK, USA, Australia), you will need the following:

o   Original Bank Passbook showing transactions for 12 months preceding the date of application (on the day of application make a deposit to the account and update the bank passbook)

o   Photo Copy of Bank Passbook(s) pages showing all the above transactions - the transaction on the date of application can be omitted from the photocopies (*)

o   Original -  Bank Letter - verifying the account in your name only and balance.  The letter verifying the account must be date on the date of application or the day before if your visit is to Immigration before the banks open.

First, there are two separate Expat clubs in Pattaya - The Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) and the Pattaya Expats Club (PEC) - each with their own website.

Where DocTom got the quote he used is a mystery to me as I cannot find that particular quote on the PCEC's website - as for the PEC, they have limited information on Thai Immigration matters - their page on visas shows it was last updated on 5th April 2024. But it has a link to the PCEC's webpage for Latest Immigration Information - which kept up to date on a regular basis.

DocTom's quote of what he says is from a PCEC webpage: "Note:  The embassies of Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States will not provide such a letter, thus holders of passports from those countries must meet the 800,000 baht deposit in a Thai bank requirement to qualify."

The PCEC's has several webpages on Thailand's requirements for entry, extensions, reporting, etc. They have two pages that show documents required for retirement extensions of stay. The link Liquorice provides above is to the PCEC's documents checklist. They also have another general page with more information about retirement extensions of stay. Both pages note the documents required by Chonburi (Pattaya) Immigration for retirement extensions.

Excerpts from the PCEC's general page ( https://pcec.club/Chonburi-Immigration) show:

"The only supporting documentation usually required if your Embassy or Consulate in Thailand provides a Letter to Thai Immigration, is their letter certifying the amount of your monthly income.

Most Embassies/Consulate should provide such letters. Each will have their own requirements as to any documentary evidence they require to issue the Certification.

Note: Several Embassies including those for the UK, USA, and Australia do not provide such certifications. See below for documents required if your Embassy does not provide a certification letter.

...If your Embassy does not provide a Certification letter on income, Immigration requires the applicant show proof by having transferred at least 65,000 baht into their Thai bank account..." [it lists the same documents as shown in the checklist quoted above by Liquorice]

The only issue I have with this site is the fact that extra documents may be required if you get an officer on a bad day. Last year they wanted a copy of my DBD papers, which I have never been asked for before and my two housemates did theirs, one before mine and one after mine and neither was asked for them. I had bills with my name and address which they didn’t want this time and they wanted a map to my house that they haven’t asked for in years. Luckily I had an old copy in my folder, but I still had to get the DBD papers done and come back to visit. Most everything else was the same. I know they give you 2 documents to sign when you hit the check in counter. Dora’s anyone know the names or links for me to print those out early or just do it there?

Thanks. I’ll have a look. I know that Jomtien office has several of their own paperwork that differs from what is supposed to be standard for Thailand. Learnt that the hard way a couple of times.

Your posting was correct (excerpt from PCEC's Checklist page). My reference to source was for the excerpt printed in DocTom's original thread on the subject which contained the following: thus holders of passports from those countries must meet the 800,000 baht deposit in a Thai bank requirement to qualify.

DocTom did not show the source URL. Your excerpt showed that the PCEC checklist did show the additional documents required to qualify for the retirement extension using 65k monthly income method.

I was pointing out that the PCEC's other page regarding retirement extensions also listed these additional documents. No where does the PCEC's webpages show that if using the monthly income method and not having an Embassy letter would instead require the 800k deposit as noted in the excerpt DodTom posted.
