Wide Screen Computer Monitors Does It .....

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of up grading my computer monitor to a 22 inch LCD Wide

Screen model, I have been told if you are doing any drawing / graphic work

Say If you draw a Circle, the Wide Screen monitor can make the circle look distorted (elliptical)…?

Has any one noticed this on their Wide Screen Monitors …?

Hm... no :o

This will only occur if an existing image is being stretched to fill the screen. Strangely enough I often see evidence of this effect in shops were they have a number of different resolution, ratio screens wired to one source but it will not occur if you are creating an image.

I haven't found any problem like this with graphic design stuff. Most software applications are built to accomodate different sized displays. You'll only see distortion if you run your display at something other than its native resolution (which is not a good idea in any case).

The only time I have ever had a problem with a widescreen (and it was really a problem, just an annoyance) is with games. Many 3D shooter type of games support specific resolutions, and sometimes they don't have the exact one for your widescreen display, so there might be a bit of distortion. However, there's usually one that's close (so the games are still playable).

I would expect the game issue to disappear altogether in the next year or two as widescreens are becoming very common.

You need to adjust the screen to the resulution of the monitor. Normal is let say 1280 x 1024 but Wide Screen will be like 1600 x 968 or something, you need to check the spec of the monitor! And of you Graphic Card as well, they must be able to work with the settings of the monitor!
