ENGLISH MAN NABBED FOR METHAMPHETAMINE (YAH ICE) DEALING

Pattaya Police arrested an Englishman for possession of methamphetamine. He claimed it was for personal consumption.

On 29 August 2007, at 1 AM, Police Lieutenant Colonel Santi Chainiranam and Police Captain Arthaporn Glan-Mueng, with a police team, arrested Mr. Michael Snell (48) from England for suspicion drug dealing.

Police found the illicit drugs in Room 517 of L.V. Mansion, on Soi Lue-Bamroong, South Pattaya, Moo 10, Nongprue, Chonburi, where Mr. Snell is staying. The evidence consisted of Methamphetamine (Yah Ice) in 20 small clear plastic bags, with a total weight about 16.1 grams, hidden in an empty plastic container. Mr. Snell was charged with dealing in class one drugs.

Mr. Snell confessed that he has been coming to Thailand for four years and is addicted to Yah Ice. He said he bought the drugs from a Thai agency whose name he doesn’t know. He claimed that the drugs were for his personal use, but that he sold whatever he didn’t use, himself, to his foreign friends.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Santi revealed that many Thais and foreigners who were arrested for drug possession said that they bought the drugs from an English agent, called Mr. Mike, who stays at the "L.V. Mansion".

Police set up an operation in which they ordered Yah Ice from him and managed to catch and arrest Mr. Michael Snell. Police theorized that there are a number of Thais and foreigners involved in this drug dealing operation and will pursuer their investigation to apprehend and arrest other members of this gang.

Suicides? No one commits suicide in a paradise like Patty! They have all been murdered!

Doesn't say he was here beyond his visa or that he has no money, just that he was caught in posession of a class A drug - unless you know different?

A fool he seems from being in posession of class A drugs in Thailand and if he was dealing then he should expect the full force of the law to be brought to bear. Too many people in this world are brought down by drugs.

Addicts deserve some sympathy and aid to help them deal with and hopefully cure their addiction.

And hey, Isn't that picture with his passport info enough for somebody to do some identity theft. ok, Nobody'd like his identity right now; but couldn't credit cards be made with that data?

Don't make me laugh! It is the victims of the addicts and the families of the addicts that deserve sympathy, not the addicts themselves. They got themselves into that mess, no-one pointed a gun at their heads, did they?

Note to self: Do not use your real name when dealing drugs. Also do not tell where you are staying or deal out of the room.

It's not a large haul and he wasn't trafficking.

Obviously he's dealing, he's admitted he gave it to friends (which is dealing).

The sentance could really be anything, depends on political influence or bribes.

For low level dealing of harder drugs tho 1m baht or 3-10 years (if you're skint or politics takes over) seems to be the norm.

Dealing is trafficking.

Wrong,

Trafficking is moving drugs across borders, a much more serious charge.

In most countries possession for the purpose of sale constitutes trafficking.

Legalize all drugs, everywhere. It's your body, your choice. As long as you don't harm anyone else, it's none of mine or anyone else's business what you do.
