Health insurance

The biggest mistake here is people think they can just change their health insurance policy to another company without any repercussions. If you have had any issues, hospital stays, illness, even high BP recorded once, the new insurance company will Not cover any pre existing conditions here in Thailand. Mine increased this year much more because of the 5 year adjustment, but I have had the same insurance company for the last 25 years and make sure that I pay it well before it’s due. If I had to go to another insurance company they’d probably not cover much. Yes, I have had a lot of health issues over time and I know that this company pays If I don’t have anything for a year, good luck on that, then they would give me a 10% discount for no claims. But trying to go to another company would be a nightmare for me. I’m sure as I get older and older I will have to self insure, but until then I’m sticking with my insurance company. Sure I may pay a bit more than others, but no deductible and 5 million baht coverage per year. Good luck and don’t just go for the cheapest option. If you want a deductible then that’s your choice, but make sure they will cover you in most major hospitals.

Remember in Thailand the laws on slander/libel are draconian , leaving a negative review on any business leaves you open to action that not only includes the person that wrote the article but the publ

I know: The premium will be frozen in case of no claim. Then, only a few percent for a certain time. WRLife, but read the small prints. Alternatively Cigna, Axa, but increasing premiums.

My Axa went up 40%. Beware.

My Cigna insurance also went up a lot this year and I am in the same age band. Just turned 72 and limited claims since I started with them about 3 years ago.

They fully paid for a colonoscopy. One good thing is they offer a 10% discount if you full pay for the year. Depending on the exchange rate that can be a good thing.

I read recently that a new law is under review. It was posted as "the lemon law". Presumably because it will deal with Sour Minds.

Anybody else heard follow ups?

Oh man.....just finished a bottle.....back on Thai whiskey now......bu99er.

Thai insurance companies are not stupid, as you age you are more likely to be sick and claim on your insurance. So what do they do, they raise the insurance premium to get rid of you, very smart.

Standard practice by most insurance companies across the world lol, but not with my insurer, (although I've never had to make a claim to verify that it really IS an insurance company...)
