I just checked and Honda has made a ton of changes to their City Hatchback:

1. 2025 had 5 variants, 2 HEV/3 ICE. 599,000-799,000 baht

2. 2026 has 4 variants. 3 HEV/1 ICE 579,000-749,000 baht

3. Ref #2: Prices have DROPPED. Probably due to Chinese EV invasion.

4. All variants have Multi View Camera System

5. All variants now have 10.1 inch touchscreen, 7 inch TFT multi information display

6. All variants have Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror

7. All variants have Honda Sensing(Collision, Adaptive Cruise, Lane Keep, Road/Lane Departure, Auto High Beam, Lead Car Departure)

8. All variants have Remote Start, Smart Connection, Wireless Charger

Honda finally being forced to be more consumer friendly. And it took the Chinese to cause this change!

Correction: I delved deeper on Honda's website, their main page was misleading.

Prices are still lower but not all variants have the Multi View Camera System, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, Remote Start, Wireless Charger, etc.

They can drop their prices a bit but the Japanese, German, American, and Korean auto brands in Thailand are all being left in the dust--and rightly so. Every week it seems a new Chinese model comes on the scene. Fresh and attractively styled, packed with technology, conveniences, and safety features, and all at a very good price.

Spouse and I were watching tv last night looking at a video of the latest model to hit Thailand from Geely. Beautiful SUV, just super styling, lots of features and technology, very nice interior, and a starting price of under 700,000 baht. WHile we were watching a commercial came on for a Toyota model and it looked so clunky and dated in comparison.

If we were car shopping right now I don't think there is a single non-Chinese model that would be on our list to go look at. Not one. We would definitely want at least plug-in hybrid, but likely all-electric, so that leaves out the vast majority right from the get-go. They need to get cracking--too much of their product is dated, stale, and over-priced.

That’s an incorrect statement. Toyota, Honda and Isuzu are the top selling makes in th with over 370000 vehicles sold last year combined, Isuzu the lowest selling @ ~ 73000 vehicles is more than byd and mg combined @ ~ 67000. So your dream of ev’s being top sellers and dominating the market in th has yet to be realized in the real world.

But the market is changing very rapidly. I have been to the last two major new car shows in Thailand. December of last year and now in March.

Super great values for EV cars from China right now. We picked up a Deepal S07L on the last day of the December show. Best deal the wife or I have ever gotten on a new car. Now 12,000 K and 7 months in. No charges at all for scheduled maintenance up to 100,000 kilometers so not a charge over the purchase price.

Yes, if Japanese are FINALLY dropping prices you know their volume of sales as dropped as well. The salesroom is probably a much friendlier place too.

Yes, it definitely helps that they are entrenched here--with entrenched buying habits--and have had the market mostly to themselves for years, but I still think they need to change more rapidly and I'm not seeing much of that. I arrived in Thailand in 2010 and one Toyota model has only changed its styling once since I've been here--and I don't think it was even a brand new model in 2010.

Take a gander at the Motor show figures Marin posted. Jaecoo/Omoda went from nothing to almost matching Toyota in second place. That's astounding to accomplish that in such a relatively short period of time. Only Toyota and Honda made the top 10 list, with Honda in dead last. All the others were Chinese.

Did, those sales were heavily driven by large discounts, not demand. The overall demand is reflected by the annual market sales.

When I bought a new car last year, I had no other choice than a chinese car, since I wanted a modern car!
