I'm planning a short break to Koh Samui next week and was looking fro some advice on where to stay etc.

I would be looking at a decent hotel in a decent location.

Any help would be appreciated

The last time I stayed on Samui I stayed at the Samui lagoon bay resort in Chawang. Very nice bingalows with either garden or poolside. Nice pool and right on the beach, handy if you wanted to go for a few beers etc on a night. Garden bungalows were around 1200 a night and poolside around 2000 a night. I believe they have a website as well. Hope this has helped. :o

I have no commercial interest but if you want to stay in the heart of the nightlife I can recommend the newly opened "Laem Din Hotel" close to Laem Din market in Chaweng - 1400 B a night.

Sorry Claude but, you may get away with saying it's a decent hotel , it does indeed look nice but you can't honestly describe soi reggae a decent area. Or the center of the night life unless you are only interested in girly bars

Rober 507 . You'll have to give us yout budget if you want us to help . sila evason has room for 700 usd a night and some consider that good value.

Well, I checked my online dictionary: "decent" means correct, it doesn't mean "very expensive". Maybe an English native speaker can correct me. But the Soi Reggae area might not be very decent for everybody, thats right!

Sorry, what you write is utter nonsense and contradicting too - ever checked out the hotel itself and its exact location yourself?

Your "recommendation" would allow the thread starter to stay 17 nights at the place Claude sugggested, instead of only ONE in the Sila...700 US ... got to be a really posh place..

------------FYI:

Roget's New Millennium™ Thesaurus

Main Entry: decent

Definition: respectable

Tell anyone conducting business in this area that they aren't decent! :D

The Reggae Pub has a world wide reputation and "girly bars" are around ALL over the world!

But then, everyone has the right to hold an opinion, whatsoever... :o

Read my post again slowly or ask a friend to explain it if you have trouble.

For a pair off people very vocal about improving Samui's image and services, you also seam to hold dear the darker under belly of night life that has probably kept you here so long.

Each to his own as you say.

But why assume every one is looking for the same as you when they come on Holiday ?
