Are Kasikorn freezing accounts?

Maybe it's just me, but IMHO, a scheduled recurring payment isn't a "basic transaction" and should require extra authentication.

In my view, it should be based on the total transfer amount, not the nature of the transfer. And in the other apps of major Thai banks, when I set up small scheduled transfers like that, I'm not required to do a face scan. It only happens that way with K-Bank.

K-Bank is great. Whether in Thailand or USA. Never had a problem.

It all started when they reduced the limits on transfers and ATM withdrawals, not just my accounts but my Thai wife as well. We appealed through the local branch but her money is still locked to low l

Kasikorn have always been a terrible bank ... USE SCB, Bank or Krungsri ,, and yes UOB is good but only if you live near them

Switch to UOB or SCB.

My SCB has been reduced to a total of 5000 Baht for online transfers daily limit

Have to go in opening branch next month see what I can do

Not a major issue at the moment but if I was paying for a Condo monthly (I'm not currently) I'd have to make 2 or 3 transactions on following days

My Kbank limit is 500,000 & Bangkok Bank 1Million, well tested for the past 3 days as I needed to send 3.5Million over to my Thai partner to buy some land we've been trying to buy for 7 years.

15 Rai, ended up paying 3.85 (She paid the rest) it's been 5.25M since we've been trying to buy it but the owners have decided they want to sell up & retire .

Quick face security scan & done in Kbank &BBL apps.

Mine is still at 200K, but a few months ago I contacted the call centre about this, as I had to do a big payment.

They said the daily limit posted at the top of the list, which is 10 million in my case, is the one that counts, so id did not have to worry.

And indeed, the next day I made a payment in the millions of baht without an issue.

Also the merchant I purchased from created a qr code for a few million from his SCB account, and then even no facescan was required

Reference the two above posts I am indeed bemused that mine has been reduced to just 5000 Baht a daily

Fortunately as I said its not an issue currently but will check it out next month for sure

The question should be if you are serious, you can't change it yourself in the app, as it will say this is the maximum limit it can be set to

Nonsense! I regularly transfer money out of my Kasikorn account, sometimes up to 25K. I've never had to use face scan.

Not nonsense. The app is not consistent when it comes to face scan. It randomly asks to give a face scan even small amounts. Ok you understand. Good

I saw another thread on AN very recently where a member reports that Krungsri have implemented the same regime of account freezing that Bangkok Bank started last year.

Has not happened to me (yet?), but did not see the thread you mentioned.

Try and grasp what I was saying and dry your eyes.....I've had the account since 1995. Nothing to do with "increasing" it via the app. When I log in now a pop up comes up on screen saying daily transfers limited to 5000 daily

So yes I am serious that when I'm in Thailand next month I will pop into the account opening branch and find out what the issue is

Right this minute its not an issue as am not transferring internal funds to anyone

I find the app very consistent. It never invites me to use face scan. But to be fair, maybe it's something to do with my usage patterns. I only ever send money to one of my small number of 'favourites'. For any other payments I use QR nowadays.

I must add a correction here.

The post I was referring to was about Krung Thai bank following the Bangkok Bank account freezing method, not Krungsri.

The member's comment was related to immigration procedures at Jomtien.

My apologies for any confusion. Members should always maintain their own due diligence.

"Kasikorn will not allow me to transfer from Australian bank into my account"

'I have no problems transferring from my OZ ANZ account to my K Bank. Also no problems using my OZ based Wise account to K Bank. I have no solution to your problem, unfortunately.

Neither does kbank, show them the refused transfers, they respond with fake smile, nothing else

For you maybe, not for us, no problem with Kasikorn or any other bank for me.

It happens when you account was opened in a different province. So I suggested to them that I open an account at my now local branch and they looked at me in horror. They could not say if a new account could be opened and would take at least a month as it had to go to head office.

In any event, you can probably kiss goodbye to any chance of being able to open a new account at your local Kbank branch, unless you can satisfy their ridiculous requirement for home country address/ID proof, as described in these 2 threads:

https://aseannow.com/topic/1387149-kasikorn-bank-account/

https://aseannow.com/topic/1387709-id-card-required-to-open-new-account/

We opened our K-Bank account in Bangkok. Never a charge for counter service as long as we are in Bangkok, but if we go out to the province, they always assess a fee for withdrawals, and the reason we were given is that we did not open an account in that province.

Greetings all naysayers. Try setting up a recurring scheduled payment of 10 Baht to an account at another bank, once a month for a set number of months. My face-scan threshold is set at 50K. Setting this up requires a face scan anyway, even though the total payment is less than 100 Baht when scheduling a 10-Baht monthly payment for six months.

Yep, I was presented with this farcical recognition nonsense when I attempted to set up token monthly transfers of ฿10 for the following year from my Kasikorn account with the K+ app to my dedicated ฿800k retirement extension account with Krungsri. No problem with such nonsense when setting up such transfers from my Bangkok Bank account with their internet banking service on the other hand, though, thankfully!

Extra authentication needed for a ฿10 transfer (totalling ฿120 over the following year in my case)? Really??

I agree, seems a bit over the top for a trivial sum, but perhaps it's not based on the amount but on the fact that it's a scheduled recurring payment.

Speak as we find.

I have been satisfied with Kasikorn for 19 years.

Why would a bank freeze your account if you're on the up and up

You're their source of income. 💰

So many mysteries in Life. 😀

Agreed. I've been a Kasikorn customer for about 15 years and never had any real issues in that time either.

Yes, I do have accounts with several banks and cannot complain about any of the local banks. In case of any issues it can be sorted out easily.
