Cambodian trafficking suspect held in Sattahip

Featured Replies

Thai immigration police have arrested a 41-year-old Cambodian man at Sattahip fishing pier in Chon Buri after locating him through an Interpol Red Notice linked to human trafficking and sexual exploitation allegations.

Rin Ran was detained at the Sattahip fish market pavilion in Moo 1, Sattahip district, at 1pm on 21 August 2026. Police said he had been working on a fishing boat in the area after allegedly fleeing to Thailand.

The operation was ordered by Chon Buri Immigration chief Pol Col Naphatphong Khositsuriyamanee and his deputy, Pol Lt Col Kawinwat Arayasuriwong. Pol Lt Col Kittiphat Hongchuawet and Pol Capt Pramot Fueangfung led the investigation and arrest team.

Interpol alert led police to Sattahip

Thailand's Foreign Affairs Division had been contacted by Interpol about a Cambodian suspect wanted in a trafficking case who was believed to be hiding in Sattahip.

Immigration Bureau commissioner Pol Lt Gen Phanumas Boonyalak and Immigration Division 3 commander Pol Maj Gen Songprod Suriyasu then instructed Chon Buri immigration officers to trace him.

Investigators later found that Rin Ran was employed aboard a fishing vessel near Sattahip pier. Officers surrounded the area and took him into custody.

Workers promised 12,000 baht a month

According to the arrest warrant, Rin Ran and alleged accomplices recruited numerous victims in Cambodia between 2018 and 2019. They were offered fishing-boat work at Prachuap Khiri Khan port in Thailand, with a promised monthly wage of 12,000 baht.

The victims were allegedly brought into Thailand and handed to accomplices in the destination country. Their passports were reportedly seized, their freedom restricted, and they were threatened, assaulted and forced to work on fishing boats.

Some workers later escaped when vessels docked, but were arrested by Thai police. They were subsequently released and returned to Cambodia, where the alleged victims later joined together to file complaints.

The case led to the warrant for Rin Ran, who faces charges carrying a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Visa cancellation and return to Cambodia planned

Chon Buri Immigration Police said they are preparing to revoke the suspect's visa before sending him back to Cambodia for legal proceedings.
