Non 'o' Extension

Featured Replies

I'm here on a NON 'O' Multiple entry visa. Its now expired and I have done my last VISA run. I have a stamp until 7 Nov.

I intend to return to UK for a couple of months in March (during the Thai School Holidays, as I have 3 kids in Thai school)

I haven't given it much thought as I intended to keep out of the 'System' and get another NON O from the UK, but I'll need 4 more months VISA runs , maybe a trip to laos for a single NON 'O' and a further visa exemption trip to mae sai or something.

I'm now thinking that I should have a crack at getting a 1 year extension (multiple entry so I can take my UK trip) on my current non 'O'.

I should meet the criteria, I would need to get a letter from the British Embassy for proof of 40K income, could I get it in Chiang Mai at the consulate and is it easy to come by. I don't have a deposited lump sum of 40K everymonth as my income is a mixture of rent from a House in the UK and dividends etc.

I suppose I have nothing to lose, apart from the fee for the letter to the british Embassy.

Do I apply now, or nearer to the expiry of my Visa in the hope that they give me a bit more time while they process it ?

Are you married to a Thai national? You seem to not have mentioned what qualifies you.

If you qualify for extension of stay the normal procedure is to do it with 3-4 weeks remaining on your current permitted to stay stamp. You do not lose anything as the one year starts from the date you last entered Thailand.
