The claim that Ukraine must appeal to Russia or follow Soviet Law 1409 is legally incorrect because the Soviet Union was not renamed; it completely dissolved in 1991, rendering all Soviet laws obsolete.

The problem is that the authority Gorbachev created to declare the dissolution of the USSR is not provided for in the USSR Constitution. It would be like you creating a "Main Council of Russia" authority, which is not provided for in the Russian Constitution, in your apartment and declaring the dissolution of Russia.

Yes, it's entirely possible. For our discussion, it doesn't matter where exactly Ukraine announced its intention to become a neutral state. Even if it hadn't said it at all and Russia simply misheard it, it ultimately changes nothing.

You can allow your neighbor to lie on your property simply because you like their face. And then kick them out for some other reason. The reason you kick them out doesn't have to be rational.

Look at it from a different perspective. Study your opponent's point of view not to accept it, but to better understand how to win.

From the perspective of fundamental international law, the West is not violating anything by supplying weapons to Ukraine. After all, Russia has not yet revoked its independence (for internal reasons). Therefore, its competitors have a natural window of opportunity to defeat Russia, which is what they are doing—and it makes perfect sense.
