Have been here seven years on O-A based on retirement using the 800K in the bank route.

After my next extension in December I would like to change to the 65K route.

What do I need to start doing now so I can make the change early next year?

You need to run one full year using money in bank method and at same time as obtaining that extension immediately start the 65k+ transfers.

In effect you satisfy both methods in sync for 12 months.

Yes PITA but I did this recently and income method is great option for many reasons.

It's worth it..

Start transferring the 65k baht every month into your bank account now so you have that proven track record. One year before applying for the extension.

Sure you could wait until December but why push the limits.

Ensure your bank letter the morning of the immigration visit is clear the monthly deposits came from abroad.

With the OA you can get close to 2 years out of it before having to apply for an extension based on retirement.

Personally, I never used the 800 k method. I never had nor wanted to. The approximate 2 years was enough to establish the 65k monthly baseline.

Bank Letter only confirms ownership of account and balance at time of issue.

The OP will require 12 month bank statement showing 12 international transfers..

The letters I received for many years had the monthly deposits listed for my OA extensions .

Along with the statement of balance on the day of turning in documents to immigration.

2 separate documents.

With Kasikorn bank. No idea what other banks provide.

I’ve never used the 800k method.

If you go to the question that was asked before yours “800K to 65k” I answered the same question. I did it and it was simple just follow the requirements by immigration

going from banked money method to monthly income by transfer method confuses some people . ..

That's because you have to meet the requirements for TWO extensions

You need to keep the 800k in the bank for 3 months after your current extension is granted and then not let the balance drop below 400K the rest of the year until you apply for your next extension

AND

at the same time you have to transfer in a minimum of 65K baht per month, each month, every month for the next 12 months BEFORE you apply for your next extension..

immigrations will check if you followed the post extension seasoning requirements on the bank money method extension you're currently on when you apply for the new yearly extension showing a year of monthly transfers

Just to be clear. You need two things from bank.

Bank Letter: this shows you as owner of the account and balance at time of issue. (100b)

Bank Statement: 12 month bank statement showing 12 months of transactions. (200b)

I think you're referring to this kind of letter that some IO's requested which itemises just the monthly transfers, as passbooks were not always clear.
